cheese, the other thing I am thinking may be that the Pearl's OS 4.2 may be giving some conflicts in what I am telling you, but i doubt the process would be much different. I will look into that with a friend who has the Pearl as well.

I see my first problem, I didn't log into "m.box.net". I instead went to box.net.

However, when I "Get Link" for my mp3's, it just says "The Requested Page can not be displayed".

I have two files, both under 400k, and saved as mp3's with mp3 filenames. Not sure why this is happening.

Re: Mac Users: How to Make your own Ringtones

Hi, ajmctaggart! I just tried your suggestion. I used iTunes to make the MP3. Then, I uploaded the ringtone (15ss) to Box.net, and got it from my BB (m.box.net). I can now have personalized ringtones on my BB. Thanks!

Any ideas why I'm having these problems? Is it a Pearl specific problem? Has anyone with a Pearl done this successfully?

Re: Mac Users: How to Make your own Ringtones

So I made my ringtone exactly as described, uploaded it to box.net on my iBook, then went to to m.box.net on my BB 8700c, but when I scroll over the .mp3 file and click "Get Link" all I get is a box that pops up with an "OK" button.

If I click the "OK" button, nothing happens, and I wind up back at the same screen.

I'm pretty new at this so any advice is greatly appreciated!

Welcome to pinstack. Go to www.box.net from your mac, click on the mp3 and get the link. Then send the link to your BB and download the ringer that way.

Let us know how it goes.

    Thanks for the response cp6169!

Still getting the same "OK" box when I type in the link from Box.net, but I can't get a direct link with the filename at the end.

    Any ideas?

Re: Mac Users: How to Make your own Ringtones

Hey guys, try these first...If you are able to download these ringers via BB, then something is not right in the process you are taking in creating, or downloading by BB. Maybe it is browser, maybe something I missed, but at any rate, both of these samples are on my BB right now. Hope this helps.

Re: Mac Users: How to Make your own Ringtones

    Hey guys,
just FYI depending on your browser, and BB OS, these ringers posted here MAY NOT be downloadable directly from my link to your Berry! I'm sorry, initially I thought this wouldn't be a problem, but apparently the box.net widget doesn't recognize the berry's browser too well.

Im assuming most of you already got your box.net account to start this process. If so, the widget opens no problem on any pc. Take one of my ringers I have posted and put it onto your box.net account. Sorry for this step- just workin' w/ what I've got...

Good Luck, and post your results here

i also have a brand new pearl. i followed all of the steps and linked one of your files to my box.net account. even with your files, when i "get link" them to download all i get is "the requested page can not be displayed."

perhaps this is a problem unique to pearl?

Who has a Pearl AND an 8700 so we can figure out why this is happening? Perhaps the problem lies in the browser...I am working on it

Sorry to re-open a dead thread...

But has anyone used the OS X sounds as ringers for your device? Im just curious because paired up w/ the new iPhone themes, you could have yourself a near mac user interface...
