    BRAND NEW bb USER TO MAC

    Advertisement

    Hi, I just bought a mack book pro and have a BB 9300 cure. I have used PC's for 15years so everything mac related is new to me (so go easy on me)
    I have a few question

    I was told entourage is practically the same as outlook, but I know that macs already have a mail app. can the blackberry sync to mac mail? what do users prefer...entourage or mac mail

    most important , what do i have to download in order to be able to sync my BB, i have been told that a 2rd party app is needed (doe anyone have a link)

    is there anything else I should know, ..pros cons , can more be done?

    i appreciate any help

    tks

    To sync you can download a free app from BlackBerry called PocketMac. Go here and it should be the first option in the drop-down menu.

    You can sync these applications with the following:
    * Mail.app - Email
    * Entourage® - Email, Contacts, Calendar, Tasks and Notes
    * Address Book - Contacts
    * iCal® - Calendar and Tasks
    * Now Contact®/Now Up-To-Date® - Contacts, Calendars & Tasks
    * Meeting Maker - Contacts, Calendar, and Tasks
    * Lotus Notes - Contacts, Calendar, and Tasks
    * Safari - Bookmarks (One-Way sync)

    This site will show you a bit about it http://www.pocketmac.net/products/pm...rry/index.html

    I use PocketMac and it does what I want it to do. If you want more (ie, media), you may want to try Missing Sync. I haven't used it, but it has media features to transfer pictures and music to your BB. Just another option. http://www.markspace.com/missingsync_blackberry.php

    thanks all.....quick question....
    1) do i install blackberry desktop manager first, then one of the above files, or visa-versa?

    2) in regards to "Missing Sync" doesn't the blackberry desktop manager already have the ability to X fer media and music files? or is this disbled

    You can't install BB desktop manager on your Mac at all unless you are running Windows on your Mac too. IMO, you don't need the desktop manager anyway if you've got Missing Sync. I have it and I haven't used my desktop manager even once. The same may be true for PocketMac, but IDK cause I haven't used it.

    I was reading about missing sync bugs such as the duplicate address book issue and the calendar issue od deleting past events. I don't want to keep calandar events on my bb forver. I asume that would take up memory. What are your thoughts/solutions?

    I like MS and I haven't tried Pocket Mac. It has a very user-friendly interface and it looks cool too. The memory isn't a big issue concerning calendar event; they don't take up that much. But I haven't had any issues with it.

    I've used Pocket Mac with no difficulties. It will install apps sync w/ ical and adressbook very well. Missing sync may have a few more features but PocketMac is free! ~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~
