If you've not seen it yet, you will soon...

Apple unveiled it's new "iPod" today. It's an iPod, a phone, a truly pocket sized computer!

    No buttons.

    Touch screen.

Everything you've already got on your current iPod, plus a GSM & EDGE phone with push mail (from Yahoo). Plus WiFi. With full internet browsing. And HTML email.

And, it's the first device to run a full OS. This is not OS X "mobile". It's the real thing! The full OS X.

    Apple has done it again.

And my BlackBerry will likely be disconnected when Apple's new device becomes available.

That Cingular nonsense was a bit of a bruiser.

I'm expecting that Rogers will also have this device...eventually.

But the Mac hype before hand was leading people to believe that it would be an unlocked device available on any carrier. Not so apparently.

And that it was announced, but not ready until June? That's a bit stupid. But hey, gives people time to save money.

And considering that it will do everything my BlackBerry does now, plus far more, I would drop my BlackBerry in an instant.

    another quote:
"The iPhone will cost $499 for 4 gigabyte model, and $599 for an 8gb model. It'll be shipping in June, once Apple gets FCC approval."

I am a big mac fine, but not a big fan of touch screen. This is going a finger print magnet. How tough is this going to be? What happens if you drop it?

    just my 2 cents

iphone sounds great and appears to be great.

Apple OSX on a phone- major coup for Apple against EVERYBODY ELSE!

    8GB on a phone??? amazing.

Exclusive to Cingular?- that sucks bad
Battery life- Ipods have a history of mediocre battery life, plus a serious issue of not being able to replace them without taking them in to be serviced. (serviced without warrantly no less)

Personally I would wait until 2nd gereration iPhone, give apple time to adjust and work out any kinks.

    Specs: http://www.apple.com/iphone/technology/specs.html.

I also am not a big touch screen fan. Looks fabulous, very difficult to keep clean.

    ~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~

Clean? Whatever. My Pearl is constantly covered in mess. I'm not a filthy person, but fingerprints and dust. You've got to realise that the Pearl is not a sealed unit. That iPhone looks like it doesn't have anywhere for dust to build up!

Touch screen? Who cares! As long as it works as advertised, then I am all over that. Looks like a person could type quickly on it.
