Does anyone know exactly how desktop manager works on a mac notebook and can you get the full function of a BB on a MAC as far as downloads and 3rd party apps?

nope, sorry you cannot run DM on the Mac unless you have Parallels and a copy of a Windows install disk.

If you have an intel-based mac you'll have to run windows on it to use the DM. It would be nice if RIM could make a mac dm...

Yeah, no desktop manager for a Mac unless you run it in a Windows environment. There is also Missing Sync as an alternative instead of PocketMac. The sync process between a Mac and a Blackberry is tempermental and fairly flawed by restrictions, but you can get it to work.

I would recommend you the missing sync. It is more "solid" and support is very responsive. I switched from pocketmac because never got a response from the support group.

I second this. Missingsync is worth the money. Pocketmac is a terrible experience.

So far Missing Sync has been very reliable and well worth the money. I used them when I had a Treo, and their BB software was even better. Although they still need to add the ability to install apps via their program.

Give this or this a shot - it'll allow you to use DM with your Mac (through virtualization if you have an Intel based Mac)

VMWare is free during the Beta, Parallels has am 15 day trial, but then cost $79.99 (technically)

I listed the prices to be politically correct... After all it is Mac software..
