BB 8700 and Macs: can anyone confirm how well they sync?

I am HOURS away from dumping my Treo (which is currently caught in an endless reset loop...) for a T-Mobile 8700.

Can any Mac owners out there that the BB 8700 successfully and seamlessly will sync with a Mac Powerbook (OSx 10.4.6) using either PocketMac or some other solution I am not aware of?

I am specifically interested in syncing iCal appointments and Address Book contacts.

Thanks for your help. Starting to get excited about getting a crackberry. I rarely used the Treo's camera anyway. (Too bad the 8700 doesn't have an expansion card, though...)

You should be more than fine. I would however check the faq section on pocketmac's site.

What are you waiting for. Ditch the Treo

Well as far as pocket MAC goes ther eis no reason to purchase it.. RIM struck a deal with them a month ago.. it is now freeware on RIMS sigte somewhere if you own a BB and if you need to install software you can download bootcamp for mac and install windows on your mac if ou really wanted to

Good call Pentace. My Dad uses a Mac and I will tell him about Bootcamp. He hates having to drive up to see me when he wants to load software!

~~Posted via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~~I have successfully sync'd my BB and G5 using the free patch from pocketmac. Brought in all my contacts and iCal info.

I just bought my 8700c and I have a PowerBook G4. I downloaded the PocketMac software, installed it, rebooted, and then sync'ed all of my contacts, iCals, and tasks right away. It was so easy to abandon my Sprint phone and T3. I think I'm going to really like the BB.

Update: After a couple of my sync's, I noticed that the dates for my tasks were missing on the BB. I reset them, reset iSync on my Mac, and resynchronized with the Mac. My tasks now have the correct dates.

My experience with PocketMac software has not been the best. I have a WM PDA that I tried to use with my Mac's using PocketMac. Windows Mobile devices are wonderful tools and have tremendous capability in a small package. But, they don't play well with Macs.

I hope my experience with BB and Mac is not the same. I'm going to ask MarkSpace (http://markspace.com) to work on a Missing Sync for Blackberry. Their PalmOS product is very nice.

Correct zuga -- bootcamp only works on the new Macs. Also there is a package, called Parallels I think, which allows Windows to run in a virtual machine under OS X. That will be way cool!

Parallels Workstation 2.1 , only thing i've found is when you running two OS's at the same time it's a bit cpu intensive

I'm not particularly surprised by that. VPC slows down my PB as well as my G5. Still, the software is attractive because I could run my numerical models without having to own a PC.

I think an Intel-Mac is in my near future--maybe as soon as January when Applecare runs out on my PB.

Sync seems to work fine. I feel your frustration with the Treo, but know if you can get it working, it'll do one thing the 8700 won't: tether.

Tethering the 8700 may be worked out. I noticed something on the front page this morning...

    How about this thread...
