any luck charging your BB with a retractable USB cable?

When I had my BB 7100, I bought a Minisync retractable USB cable that was supposed to be good for charging and syncing, but I could never get it to charge from my Mac (always got the dreaded "charging insufficient" message). Now that I have a Pearl I really want to find an alternative to the thick, stiff, long USB cable that came with it. Any experiences with retractable cables, Macs, and the Pearl?

I've used a few retractable USB cords to charge my 7100i. What computer do you have? I've never heard of charging problems unless the cord is plugged into an underpowered hub.

I know that. Some older Macs have low powered USB ports and some have had problems with the power in the ports.

I have the ReTrak from Emerge for my 8100 and it works great... data and charging
fits very nice in my pocket for anytime I need it plus it comes with a double charger that connects to the usb and can plug into either my car or an outlet.

I cant post a link or I would but mine came from CompUSA

First of all, I'm a SHE, thank you very much! Secondly, I'm plugging it into the USB port on my Macbook Pro, so no power issues there. Would love to hear from someone who used a retractable cable with a Pearl on a Mac, before I take the plunge...

Sorry, Ma'am. You shouldn't have a problem with your setup. I use a Dynex retractable with my 7100i with no problems on any of my Macs. I can't imagine a Pearl being any different. I also charge my wife's Razr with that cable.

Get this: I bought a handful of different types of retractable USB cables from THE DOLLAR STORE! That's right, those stupidly expensive little cables for a lousy dollar apiece. Anyway, the point is, they work with my MacBook Pro. Sometimes I plug my Pearl in and nothing. But if I unplug it and plug it right back in, it always works. But, the thing is, I have the same result with all USB cables and the Pearl. I think it's something to do with how the Pearl recognizes the Mac, rather than a faulty USB cable.
