Review: Seidio Innocell 3500mAh Extended Battery for Bold

As many Bold users know, the OEM battery drains quickly after a few hours of data or application usage. I got tired of having to spot charge my Bold throughout the day just to keep the battery at 50%, so last Sunday I decided to bite the bullet and purchase the 3500 extended battery. This is the larger extended battery from Seidio, and they claim it doubles the capacity over the OEM battery. Ship time was quick, I received my order on Wednesday via USPS first class. The first thing I noticed was the size of the battery. It has the same length and width of the OEM battery, but is a whopping .400 thick (just a shade over 3/8"). To accomodate the extra thickness, there is an extended battery door included. The door is made of ABS polymer, and the outside is coated with a very pleasant feeling smooth non slip rubber. I installed the battery, and let it fully charge Wednesday night. I'm a heavy data/apps user, so I kept a record of how much the battery drained during the day. I started using my Bold at 6am, of course to get on PS before I went to work. My job allows me to literally use my 9000 all day.

    6AM-100%
    10AM-90%
    2PM-75%
    6PM-65%
    8PM-60%
    10PM-55%

After 16 hrs of almost continuous use, I still had 55% of my battery capacity left-WOW! A tip to those who are considering this and like the OEM Bold holster. Purchase one of the Premium Vertical or Horizontal holsters made specifically to accomodate the added thickness of the door. The OEM holster will not work with it. I chose the vertical, because it is almost exactly like the OEM holster, in looks and quality-$34.95.

Price: 3500 extended battery and back door-$64.95

Pros: unbelievable battery life, even for hard core users

Cons: have to purchase another holster

Overall Rating: 9.5/10 only because I couldnt use my OEM holster. Once you get past the price, this is a high quality, high capacity set up. Moderate data users can expect to go 3-4 days between charges. Heavy users, 2 days on a single charge. i highly recommend this, and IMO worth every cent.

Thanks for the review! I love my seidio extended battery for my 8330. I wish I had done it much sooner. I went from battery lasting 4-10hrs depending on use to an average of about 2 days. Yesterday was I busy(working more than playing ) and I didn't use any radio streaming, but did have apps like berryweather and socialscope on and frequently updating. My battery is still at 70% and I took it off the charger yest. at 6am

I don't use a holster(my hand is my holster ) but I did buy the Innocase to replace my old one that would no longer fit with this battery. I gladly ignore the extra bulk in exchange for being able to ignore the the battery meter

Not trying to bring up an old thread, but.... Are you still happy with your decision to buy the extended battery? Also, do you notice the extra thickness while using?

I am considering the purchase;just trying to get over the added size.

    Thanks

Absoluely, I'm on my Bold 16 hours a day and at the end of the day, I still have 50-60% battery left. I wish I had gotten it sooner. I already had a thick Seidio black rubber skin that I use also, it stretches a bit because of the added thickness of the battery and cover, but still fits. I highly recommend this battery. PM me if you have any questins, or email me-chokem@att.backberry.net.
