you would think there would be some type of mechanism to protect against surges...as what would probably happen having it plugged in via USB and in the dock at the same time..

I hope we can get to the bottom of this

I connect the small end to the back of the cradle and the large end to my PC. Then I just put my Pearl(s) in the cradle and they charge and/or I can sync if I have DM opened.

I thought you couldn't sync via the charging cradle?

I corrected my statement to say I sync if DM is opened and I select that option. But now I have the DM sync option set to sync when I connect my BB to DM.

I think what eyecon is saying is that he did not believe it was possible to sync only through the cradle, as the contacts are only charging contacts and not connected to the USB port in any way..

I purchased my Bold's cradle from Pocket PC for you dot com. It allows both charging and syncing at the same time.....

I didn't see a cradle on that page. Well, this cradle allows syncing AND charging, but I don't believe you can sync THROUGH the cradle. Does that make sense?

Ah, I see. I saw that but I wanted to go with one with a cleaner look, even though it doesn't allow for syncing. How are you liking that one?
