| 8700G Housing Swap End Result Pictures
So, as some of you know I had to go out and buy another 8700 yesterday because my trackwheel on my old one broke. Yesterday I also received my OEM replacement housings. So, I figured "hmmm...1 1/2 hour new 8700. Why not void the warranty on it already, eh". So here is the end result: 8700G From TMobile. Front Housing replaced with 8700 Vodafone housing (Silver). Battery cover replaced with VodaFone Housing (Silver). Keypad original 8700 (Blue). Rear outer/side housing from O2 8700 (Blue). I prefered to keep the 8700G Keys on it because IMO they look better than the silver keys. Makes the keypad "stand out more". Sorry about the quality of the pics. I need to reset the settings on the Pearl camera and I am just too lazy to do that now because it has been a hectic last 2 days. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I now have 4 extra outer housings...So in the near future when I have time, I am going to do some experimenting with painting different colors and whatnot. First I think I am going to work on a Silver/Black housing for it. |

~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~nice job. I recently ordered an xtra housing set for my 8700c, from an ebay seller out of hong kong...its a dark set, so I too can sport around with a 2 tone 8700c. ;-)

Reemusk. Very very carefully. You have to remove the microphone also. There is a glue band around both that u have to remove. And when reassembling the unit, you need to make sure that you have the prongs from the speaker and the microphone line up in the correct spot, or else you will lose functionality of them. When reassembling my device for the first time, I forgot to connect the microphone and was wondering why noone could hear me. ~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~ |

Fun isn't it? ![]() I've found i don't have to do anything to the speaker/mic assemblies when swapping housings though. They don't move if you don't touch them I find. But then I've done it enough times to where I can do it without shutting the device off. 'tis a sad life I lead some days. aye, 'tis. |
