Yes it can. I'm have an 8830, and I have a 4GB Sandisk up and running just fine in it.

    ~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~
Replying from a Verizon 8830 on OS 4.2.2.148 with a completely full 4 gig Sandisk MicroSDHC card. It works perfectly. Kinda funny bu the huge memory storage actually can store more songs than "Shuffle" can handle. When you do a Shuffle to play random songs it creates a playlist of only a subset of the albums on the MicroSD. It will then go through all those songs till it gets to the last one in the playlist even though the list onlyu contains something like 20% of the songs on the MicroSD. If you want to hear more shuffled songs you need to hit Shuufle again. Hopefully a future OS upgrade will allow for the shuffle playlist to index all the songs on the MicroSD. Not just some of them.
