    trouble Loading device software onto my PC

    own Verizon 8130, downloaded device software onto my computer so I could start using app loader in the DM. After downloading software, plugged BB into computer and DM does not recognize my BB.

    Anyone know what step I have missed. I cant synch or do anything.

    I thought All I would have to do once I plugged my BB into PC was run app loader and My device would be updated. Thanks in advance for any help.

    that's 'normally' the way it would work.
    if DM doesn't recognize the BB, then I would UNinstall it (in control panel/add or remove apps) and reinstall it, using this link.

    leave the device software alone for now, bc i don't think its the issue.

    Welcome to Pinstack. What device software did you download? Did you extract the files? If so you will have a new .alx file, In app loader hit ADD and browse to this new .alx file.

    If this is a theme you will need your device operating system installed on your desktop first.

    I downloaded the latest device software update that was released by RIM on 2-26-08, I cant use app loader because DM does not recognize that i Have my BB plugged in. I dont think I extracted the files, I just ran the download. Could you give me a brief description of how to extract the files. When I try to run app loader I get a message that says connection not found.

    I also assume that I did not need to update my Dm software. the version I am running, is what came with the pearl when I Bought it.

    there is nothing to extract when loading the device software as it is an exe file.

    do you get any kind of error?

    After you download you need to launch the download to install the new OS on your desktop. You should have an icon on your desktop somewhere....

    Now for your other issue - What exactly happens when you launch DM? Are you connected directly to the desktop (not thru a hub)? Does the computer see your BB when you connect? You may indeed need to do a clean install of a downloaded version (some CDs have been a bit buggy)

    Is your device functioning or does your device have a JVM error on the screen for example? Also go into the windows device manager and look under Universal Serial Bus Controllers and look to see if your blackberry is listed in there.
