    Re: Software issue

Sounds like a Windows or Microsoft Installer Package problem. That's not the same error code I have seen being reported but, you can check the Microsoft technical support knowledge base for the code and see what it has.

    Re: Software issue

Your issue is that Vista and Media Manager dont seem to get along, Take a look at this information from the RIM web site. FIRST try to install DM 4.3 - reports are much better with Vista and 4.3.

Error 2738. Could not access VBScript run time for custom action. BlackBerry Desktop Manager 4.2 installation fails on a computer with Windows Vista

    Environment
    • BlackBerry® Desktop Manager 4.2
    • Microsoft® Windows Vista™
    Problem

The following error occurs when the VBScript is not registered:
Error 2738. Could not access VBScript run time for custom action

    Cause

Microsoft Windows Vista does not register the VBScript by default.

    Resolution

To register the VBScript, complete the following steps on your computer:
    1. Select Start > Accessories > Command Prompt.
    2. Type regsvr32 %windir%\system32\vbscript.dll and press Enter.
Note: If a message appears stating that the file could not be found, the vbscript.dll file is not in the default location. In this case, search for the vbscript.dll file on the computer and follow the steps listed previously, but instead of typing regsvr32 %windir%\system32\, type the path for the vbscript.dll file.

    Workaround

When installing BlackBerry Desktop Manager, choose the custom install option, and un-select Media Manager, so that it is not installed.
