RIM launches all new BlackBerry Web Desktop Manager

...a web-based version of the BlackBerry Desktop Manager.

It allows users to manage and configure their BlackBerry devices to receive messages, in addition to performing a variety of maintenance related tasks. BlackBerry Web Desktop Manager is specifically designed for organizations that would prefer not to deploy and install client-based BlackBerry Desktop Manager software on all or some of their BlackBerry device user’s workstations.

So, does this mean that the OS upgrades will be able to be done OTA?
Color---it's nothing but a hue of the rainbow...why do people place such importance in it?

Re: RIM launches all new BlackBerry Web Desktop Manager

BlackBerry® Web Desktop Manager provides many of the same features and functionality that BlackBerry device users have become accustomed to with BlackBerry® Desktop Manager.
BlackBerry Web Desktop Manager will allow BlackBerry device users to:
    • Update their BlackBerry® Device Software
    • Install third party applications*
    • Backup and restore their BlackBerry device data
    • Configure their BlackBerry device settings
    • Review their BlackBerry device service information
    • Create enterprise activation passwords for their BlackBerry devices
    • Connect their BlackBerry device via USB and manage more than one BlackBerry device concurrently
    • Obtain their BlackBerry device service statistics
BlackBerry Web Desktop Manager also allows BlackBerry Enterprise Server administrators with the ability to:
    • Enable/disable BlackBerry device user features
    • Customize the BlackBerry device user web interface to include a company logo or change text font colours

i believe this is a "web 2.0" application running on a webserver. You basically connect to it and it loads a web 2.0 version duplicate of desktop manager.

    very cool beans...

if you want to know what is web 2.0.. .There are a few sites on the web like it... grandcentral is a good example.

Neat.. Hopefully BIS will get this. But I'm not complaining because I don't really need it.
