    Loading applications via desktop manager...

Can someone help me figure out why my Application loader won't detect any applications. I've downloaded some ringtones (alx files) and the gmail app from Handango. When I unzip the file in my BlackBerry folder/directory, the application loader does not detect any applications to install via Desktop Manager. What am I doing wrong? Thanks!

I assume you have your BB connected when you run the App Loader.

Are you going through the App Loader Wizard? and selecting the add button?

Navigateing to the folder that holds .alx files in question?

Selecting files and then following the wizard instructions?

If so you should be able to load the .alx files.

Yes and it always comes back with, "Error - no additional applications designed for your handheld were found". I've even tried to downloaded the Themes found on this site and I can not use those either. Very frustrating......

Are you fully unzipping the folder and the contents? The theme's pack is a zip folder and has to unzipped before you can load it.

If they are not listed and you click browse and click to open the *.alx file to install and still get that message then that's could be one of many things.

What model Blackberry do you have? What version OS? Are you on BES?

I had problems too and ended up loading the applications to my desktop, unzipping them into a dedicated folder and then paying close attention to what files I am trying to load to my BB

I've tried the above and it still doesn't work. I've got other issues too, like my profiles stopped working. I have to take my battery out every other week (seems like it) to get my Profiles to work. I'll be sitting in a meeting and my phone (7100i) is set on Vibrate, which starts ringing. When I first bought this BB device, the Nextel store employee put the Motorolla SIM card (from my old phone) in the 7100 device (which BTW is a NO NO) and I think that REALLY screwed me up. I'm going to call Nextel and get this resolved. Thanks to all who tried to help.

This problem appears with older versions of the Desktop Manager. Try upgrading to a newer version of Desktop Manager. You can find it at http://www.blackberry.com/products/s...op/index.shtml.

I had the same problem as well until today. What I did to get it working was highlighted all the files except the help files and extracted them to another folder. Once I did this I then went to the application loader and went to the folder where I save the extracted files and selected the .alx file from there hopes this helps and you get the same results as I did.

I got around the gmail problem by going to my gmail account on my pc and setting all mail to be forwarded to my BB.

I've been having the same problem. I can't load anything onto my Blackberry 7730. It says I have no system software, which is quite confusing. It also says: "Error - no additional applications designed for your handheld were found". Any ideas?

Okay, nevermind about the systems software. I just can't add applications, same problems as before.
