How do you recover old calendar entries from archive into Outlook?

    Bold 9000 / DM 5.0 / AT&T / BIS / Windows XP / Outlook 2007 on an Exchange Server

Prelims out of the way - have a hell of an issue.....for me, at least.

I have been using electronic calendars in one form or another for 10+ years - don't really want 10+ years of calendar on my Blackberry today, but didn't want to lose it all from Outlook (where I don't mind a larger file). I had kept about 3-4 years on my Outlook exchange calendar and everything prior to May 2008 that is other than a recurring event is now disappeared (and I would like it back).

I backup the BB religiously. I know we archive the exchange server (and I can probably get our IT guy to let me at it and grab the earlier backup of my calendar), but that is a pain and there should be an easier way given that I have the data in BB backups.....

    Right? Wrong!

I have tried 5 different ways.....backup device, delete calendar, restore backup calendar selectively from old archive (i.e. May 2008) to device, synch from device to Outlook.....and it ought to work......but it does NOT! I have checked all obvious things....sync all items, leave calender items forever, etc. Reset, battery pull, try again.....nothing is getting the older calendar items off the device and into Outlook.

Anyone? Have searched Pinstack - cannot find anything on point (which means someone did this yesterday and I am sick of looking, but I think not).

    Appreciate any thoughts.

    mbyer,

Take a look at the thread and download info for a new .ipd reader HERE

This will allow you to read those back up files and export them to a text file, which I bet you can manipulate to a format you can import into outlook if that is your goal.

MagicBerry is an interesting program, but only exports calendar entries from the IPD file into a text file in rows with varous text label appended. Would take days of manual data manipulation to get the lost data. Good suggestion, but that program is in too early of a stage right now.

Looks like ABC Amber Blackberry might do the trick - says they can export IPD Calendar entries to a VCS file.....might be the best $20 of my week. Will report back.

Update: ABC Amber Blackberry is STELLAR! Not a shill - the post above helped me search for the right thing to find it. Worked like a charm - allows direct import to Outlook - no need to create VCS files - solved the problem.

I like using outlook, but like troubles force me to find a probable solutions for such unpleasant situations. Perhaps the next software would become one of the best solution here - pst mail viewer.
