Question Greyed out email reconciliation on DTM

OK I am exhausted with this. HAve searched through help and pinstacks for solution to no avail. I cant get email reconciliation to work on the Desk top manager, everything else synchs OK but not email (which I am recieving on the handheld OK). I have tried

    Uninstall (3 times)
Different software sources (download and disc)
Resend service books (why would this make any difference anyway)

Email reconciliation remains greyed out. Frustrated.

I am running windows XP home MS outlook 2003 small business edition

    Any fixes out there

if you are not on BES you can't use the destop to sync email.

Welcome to Pinstack, blamb. It sounds to me like you might have installed the BES version of the Desktop Manager and not the Internet Version and that you don't have Access to a BES. Is this the situation? I don't know if using the enterprise version of DM will cause problems any more but I think it used to.

    Hope thie Helps

Thanks for the posts. I may have installed BIS in error first time round but have since been v careful to tick internet box. That mean I should be able to sync with the desktop software right?

blamb, you should be able to sync using the USB Cable to connect to your PC. Of course you will have to configure Intellisync to properly sync with your PC PIM to get it to work. But a hydn said, without a BES, either corporate or Hosted, you will not be able to "sync" email using desktop manager. It doesn't work that way. BIS works with the email server, not with whatever email program you use on the PC to access the email server.

    Hope this helps

Re: Greyed out email reconciliation on DTM

Sorry i'm not being clear. I have connected up via usb, I understand about BIS etc, but the email option is still greyed out. I think I have an installation problem - I am running outlook 2003 and this should be compatible.

I am determined to succeed. Any further help gratefully recieved.

Cant seem to configure Intellisync to properly sync. Should I be doing something very specific at install or in configuration?

Re: Greyed out email reconciliation on DTM

How do you get Destop manager to let you synchronise - my email reconciliation option is greyed out and I have tried numerous reinstallations with no success. I have two mail accounts whihc are being pushed via BIS to my BB but I cannot synchronise with my Outlook (2003 small business edition) so I end up with lots of mail on the BB which I have cleared off the PC and so on.

Smile Re: Greyed out email reconciliation on DTM

    Hi,

I'm having the same problem. From what I read and what I understand, it is not possible to reconcile our emails if we do not have a BES. I have come to accept that fact. But I have another problem.

My boss gets hundreds of emails a day. He needs to be able to get his emails through his blackberry and outlook 2003. I have no problems setting that up. The problem is, if he replies emails from his bb then outlook would not have a copy of the replies he has made. I don't even know if a solution exists, so I am open to suggestions.

    Thanks in advance!
    Ken

blamb, I don't think I can help you with what you desire. Which option did you select when you installed your Desktop Manager. Enterprise or Indvidual?

As I and hydn have said, Without a BES account, you will not be able to reconcile your BB email with your Desktop Outlook.

    Sorry.

Ken, How did you set your bosses email to get to the BB? Are you using BIS and Polling, or is it being forwarded to his BB from your Email Server? What type of email server are you using?

We are currently using Network Solutions for our emails. We have been having ALOT of problems with their instability and whenever we call customer service they always claim everything looks good on their end. Anyways, because of the problems, I set up my email to forward my emails to my sprint.blackberry.net email. Then in BIS, I just simply set the reply-to to my caitacgarment.com email. We currently do not have our own exchange server, do you guys think getting an exchange server is worth it? We only have 50-60 users.

    Thanks!
    Ken

Ken, Without BES your boss is not going to get the replies, unless you set his BIS to autoBC his BB traffic to his work account. I'm not sure how to do this but I have read about it being done. You may need a filter to prevent the replies from being resent to his BB.

    Hope this helps
