Emails Deleted After Synching or opening Outlook

I have had two Blackberry Curve 8310 phones now in the last month - AT&T is carrier. I exchanged the first one - red Curve - for titanium Curve when this first happened three weeks ago, but now after just 2 days with the new titanium Curve, my emails disappear after synching with Desktop Manager 4.6 or even just opening my laptop Outlook 2003 email. In fact, they disappeared with the very first synch on version 4.3 and also on upgraded 4.6 Desktop Manager.

All deleted emails on my phone are still accessible on my laptop Outlook. I am on BIS, not BES, synching an AT&T Curve bought at an AT&T store with an AT&T-Bell South email account. Curiously, my "sent" emails NEVER dissappear and neither does my Service Books email that I sent myself. But ALL other received emails are automatically deleted - the deleting is not immediate after synching - only happens the next time a new email comes in.

Phone is on 4.2.2.170 and platform 2.5.0.30. I have NO 3rd party apps at all and NO 3rd party themes and I have 30,746,544 free bytes available. Haven't had any battery issues and my call logs are fine - they're never affected. I don't text or multimedia message. Just emailing. Phone calls are great and synching is flawless otherwise.

    HELP! I'd sure appreciate it.

I had a Pearl 8100 from 3/2007 to 1/09. I loved the Pearl and this never happened once on my emails ever! However, my front speaker went out on my Pearl at Thanksgiving after only 19 months, rendering the phone almost worthless since I could only hear incoming calls on speakerphone. I'm leary of the longetivity of any Blackberry, and if I can't get this issue resolved, I may just have to give up and get a simpler phone that will still sync with Outlook contacts and memopad. Or maybe 19 months is the normal "life" of these phones -- how long does the average Curve "last" before it "dies?" Just curious.

since emails do not synce with outlook on BIS, not sure what the correlation is between the two. have you checked your sync settings?

Do you have rules set up to file emails in Outlook to specific folders?
If so, try checking your email settings on the BlackBerry.
Go to Messages > Menu key > Options > General Settings > Set Hide Filed Messages to Yes.

You could also try the Email Reconciliation Settings.
Messages > Menu key > Options > Email Reconciliation > Wireless Reconcile set to Yes > On Conflicts set to Mailbox Wins.

J Llama: Forgive an oldie amateur like me but I didn't understand why I would want to check "yes" and hide filed messages. But, turns out that I stumbled on the fix before I even saw this post.

By shear trial and error, I discovered my emails were deleted whenever my laptop Outlook inbox was merely opened, regardless of whether I synched or not with Desktop Manager. So, even though I had not seen Cherrichiado's post yet, it's right - synching shouldn't affect emails at all - duh.

Somewhere in the 8310 forum where I originally posted this, I remember someone said to check your email settings on Outlook, just like J Llama. However, I wasn't entirely sure how to do that so I clicked around a little in my laptop Outlook settings to no avail. I did finally remember the AT&T website that you're required to log in to initially just to set up your email. It's also the only place where I can change my tagline signature on messages sent from my phone. I logged into to mycingular.blacberry.com and clicked "edit" on my email account.

By simply unchecking the box that says "synchronize deleted emails between this mailbox and my device," my emails now remain unaffected by my laptop Outlook inbox - woo hoo! I still don't understand why emails got deleted on my phone when they had NOT been deleted on my laptop Outlook inbox. But regardless, it works now.

I find it amazing that 3 AT&T folks, including store manager, didn't know this. After examining my first red Curve for about 30 minutes, they all said something was wrong with my red Curve 8310 and just told me to exchange it. EXCEPT of course it did it on my Titanium as well...because the box was still checked when I set up the email. Oh well. Hope this helps out anyone struggling with disappearing, deleted emails.
