Question DM Application Loader - error [A:0x00000001]

I was playing around with deleting cod files to save space on my 8820. I renamed a bunch of other language files (from .cod to .code), started the Application Loader to see what it would do. It scared me, so I stopped the Application loader and renamed them back.

Now, it thinks I have a new OS, and is taking me thru the whole process where it deletes everything and reloads it. During this, Application Loader seems to get hung during the BOOT ROM access/process. It takes a long time, and instead of reading the BOOT ROM (as I thought it was doing), it booted the device. I then get:

    Unspecified error encountered [A:0x00000001]

john, uninstall the OS from add/remove apps in control panel
then reinstall the OS and run as usual...
if you run the setup wizard after the install, it will get rid of all the languages you don't want ... or you can simply make sure they are all unchecked in the 'apps to be installed' window when you go to load the OS.

    Thanks.
This will not wipe any data, will it?
It's just messing with the Application Loader, not anything on the BB, right?

I thought so, but after reading some other threads that talked about messing with cod files, I thought I'd dabble. Silly me.

    nah, it won't erase anything.
    you are essentially starting over
you have the file (exe) on your pc, so you are simply unistalling it, and then reinstalling it back, so that the 'edits' you made are gone and you are starting fresh/over

I did as you suggested last Friday.
First, it did fix the problem I started with, but it did erase all of my application registration info and settings.
Luckily, I keep a spreadsheet with everything on my BB, where I bought it, registration codes, etc.
