    DM & Modem

    Hi every one.

is there a way to get the modem working with BBs without desktop manager?

Actually, I know there I can't do this, but I don't want to give my user DM in case they mess things up, they're on BES.

I've tried installing just the modem drivers, but this doesn't work, it needs DM running.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks.

there is no other way. DM is what makes your computer and your phone connect to transfer and send signal for your computer as a modem.

You can try installing and launching only "Blackberry Device Manager" I believe that along with the proper drivers, should allow you to connect.

Check the threads linked in My Blog on setting up your phone as a modem if you need more info.

~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~if you arev using AT&T you can download their software called AT&T communication manager. This software is used with AT&T aircards and pdas as well as blackberries to be used as a modem.
Software includes the standard modem and the two rim virtual serial ports needed to use the blackberry as a modem.if u need the link here it is:

GMAN - Here is the steps to install only Device Manager:

To install the Universal Serial Bus (USB) drivers without installing the BlackBerry Desktop Software, install only the BlackBerry Device Manager (which was called BlackBerry Handheld Manager in versions prior to 4.1). When you install the BlackBerry Device Manager, you can charge the device and transfer data through the USB connection.
    1. Start the installation of the BlackBerry Desktop Software.
    2. In the Install Shield Wizard, when you are prompted to choose Typical or Custom installation, choose Custom and click Next.
    3. On the Custom Setup screen, click the arrow next to the BlackBerry Desktop Manager option and select This feature will not be available.
    4. Click Next and complete the installation.

Thanks, I'll give that a try.

Sounds like it should do the trick.
