DM 4.7 Media Manager issue
Hi - I downloaded DM4.7 from the official disk that came with my 8900. Everything has worked fine except for Media Manager - even Media Sync works fine, but that only syncs with ITunes.
On advice from someone I downloaded DM 4.7 with Media Manager from the RIM website, hoping this would cure the problem. However, I have exactly the same issue: on the right hand side of the window, Media Sync works fine; on the left hand side, Media Manager, whilst visible, is "greyed out" and inoperable. This in effect means that I can't access Windows Media Player etc, where I have loads of tunes I would like to download to my 8900. This used to work fine when I had the 8300 and its related software.
Grateful for any clues about this, thanks

Many have had trouble with v4.7. You were one of the lucky ones if you've used it without problems before.
My suggestion is that you go into add-remove progs on pc and delete DM and Sync. Then download v4.6 of DM, and a fresh install of Sync. This is presupposing Sync isn't integral w/DM at this time

have you used the mass storage mode on your berry? i find it much easier to just drag and drop media onto your sd card using this method.
-
yeah, that media manager is a waste to me. Too much resource is applied to your pc when you run it. And it usually hangs on mine. I would recommend what catside said, just use the drap and drop method. Your phone automatically organizes the music for you anyways.

Pretty tedious with a lot of titles though...

Hi All - thanks for the tip - can you give me some basic instructions or point me in the right direction re: turning on mass storage mode and dragging and dropping ? never tried any of that before. thanks

sure it's simple. go to your options>media card>enable mass storage. after that just go to computer on your pc and your berry will show up as a separate drive. from there just open up your music folder, open your music folder on your pc...then drag and drop.

Catstide - thanks, I did what you suggested and it worked.
Uninstalling 4.7 and reinstalling was a waste, it changed nothing. For some reason I just cant get Media Manager to load (if it is there at all) on my PC.
Over and out, exhausted with 8900 issues and turning into a Crackberryhead unintentionally/reluctantly !

its not too hard, dont use media manager, i bet it hangs when you open the media manager on your pc. Open the mobile folder, and open the music folder in there. Drag all of your music files/folders in the music folder of the BB. It displays album art and all when you play the song on your BB. Its the same as moving files between folders on your pc.

+1 for cat i also just drag and drop my music collection which is already PERFECTLY tagged with album arts and every info through iTunes.

LOL! Thanks for expounding on that a little, OT! Was wondering how the tagging happened. Should've known it was done through iTunes.
