DM 4.2 Mail System interface Library error

I had DM 4.2 installed and working perfectly along with Lotus Notes 7.0.2 - Upgraded to Notes 8 and get the following error every time I open DM.

The mail system interface library could not be loaded.
Please ensure that the mail system client software is installed.

[Error code: 0x0000007e]

I have tried Repair and even uninstalled and reinstalled DM - I get the same error. The Notes upgrade was not a custom install and installed on top of 7.0.2.

What is DM looking for and how do I point it to my mail?

Re: DM 4.2 Mail System interface Library error

here's the fix:
Problem

You receive the following error when starting the BlackBerry Desktop Manager:
The mail system interface library could not be loaded. Please ensure that the mail system client software is installed.
[Error code 0x0000007e]

Cause

The path to the notes.ini file is incorrect or does not exist in your computer’s environment variables.

Resolution

Add the path to the notes.ini file by performing the following steps:
Warning: Modifying the computer environment variables can result in unexpected system behavior. Document the existing values prior to implementing any changes.
  1. On the Start menu, click Settings>Control Panel>System.
  2. In System Properties, click the Advanced tab.
  3. Click Environment Variables.
  4. In the System Variables section, selectPath from the list.
  5. Click Edit, and in the Path field, type the path to the notes.ini file before the existing information in the field.
  6. Restart your computer.
  7. To check that the Registry is populated with the version of Lotus Notes, open the Windows Registry by clickingStart>Run and typeregedit. Press Enter.
  8. Go to HKEY_Local_Machine>Software>Notes.
  9. Check for the version of Lotus Notes listed. For example, 5.0, 6.0.
  10. If there is no version of Lotus Notes listed, you may want to remove and re-install Lotus Notes on the computer to create the entry.

I added the path in system variables and it works like a charm - I am humbled by your greatness!

Re: DM 4.2 Mail System interface Library error

I'm having the same problem using Outlook 2007. I tried the fixes mentioned previously, but it didn't work. I have no idea what information, colons, semi colons, etc., to enter or where to find what I'm supposed to enter. Thank you.
