Desktop Manager can't connect to my BB

    Hi All, help please?

I have finally loaded Desktop Manager to my PC and it opens fine. Only trouble is when i connect my Phone via the USB lead the Desktop Manager can't "see" or connect to the Phone.

The Phone loads to the PC ok as a mass storage device, but obviously i need the DM to see it to access synch funtions with Outlook etc etc.

I am sure i should be doing something simple - please point me in the right direction

Hi uk25596. I am assuming that b/c the pc detects the phone it came up and installed the " new hardware" on the bottom right system tray, is that correct? If so go onto the DM and select options, connection settings, and select detect. Click ok when it asks to make sure you are plugged in and it should say usb device found. When you get back to the DM it shoudl connect. If that does not work unplug the usb and on the phone go to options, advanced options, media card, auto enable mass storage mode set to no. Hope it helps. Welcome to the stacks.

Hi Guys thansk for jumping in to help me

    • Yes it came up and installed the " new hardware" on the bottom right system tray.
    • I did go onto the DM and select options, connection settings, and select detect. Clicked ok when it asked to make sure you are plugged in but it DID NOT say usb device found.
    • Currently the Media Card option on my phoen is set to "prompt" and i normally select yes?? is this right?

By any chance are you running VISTA on your desktop?

Also if you have not already try a different USB plug on your PC.

Try selecting no when it asks you if you want to connect in mass storage mode. The phone may be locking the data connection down and only coming up as a flash drive on the comp.
