Thumbs down Desktop Manager 4.2 Vista - Flashes then closes

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE HELP !

I am having the same problems where when i click on desktop manager it flashes up then closes. I installed the software from the cd (DM 4.1) and got the Vista incompatibility message, so uninstalled and reinstalled 4.2 as everyone in forums says that is the compatible version for vista.

I have now installed this 4 times trying all different ways I have found on the forums I have:

    1. Uninstalled and Reinstalled normally....
    2. Uninstalled and Reinstalled using clean install
    3. Uninstalled and Reinstalled using clean install then Turned on UAC and run as administrator
    4. Uninstalled and Reinstalled using clean install then run all DLL registers using CMD prompt

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE HELP !
I need to be able to sync my blackberry urgently.

    Thanks
    James

Have you tried running the installation file as 'run as administrator'?

Have you checked the Event Viewer to see if anything is logged?

    Are you installing V4.2 SP2 ?

I had this same problem. Make sure you have UAC (user account control) turned on.

    *Control Panel
    *User accts
    *check UAC to turn on

    Hope this helps.

Try completely uninstalling DM. Then use the SP1. I had problems with SP2 as well. Make sure you uninstall first.

i too had the same problem with 4.2sp2 with vista. i did a unistall and reloade 4.2sp1 and it runs fine and my user control is off. the only thing that i noticed is the self extracting zip file after unzipping it it took forever for the install to start installing.

SP2 seems fine here both on Vista and Vista 64

Re: Desktop Manager 4.2 Vista - Flashes then closes

I keep reading Vista 64 bit - I have Vista Home Premium 32-bit is mine uncompatible? I don't understand because I had DM installed and worked great even with my bluetooth, but I uninstalled it after installing AT&T Communication Manager and then reinstalled DM 5 times now and it will not work, just flashes for a second and then closes. I open task manager and it doesn't show DM or device manager even running. Whats the deal, don't hate me for saying this but I hate Vista and sometimes I wonder if my Blackberry is really that great I have had small problems in the past and no one to help on the phone without going through 1 hour of representatives before getting a tech to help!
