    Hello,

I installed the newest version of the Desktop Manger with Vista and it seemed to install just fine, but when I go to load the DM, it just blinks up real quick then closes right away. I tryied running it as admin and I made sure that I had security rights.

    Can anybody help?
    Thanks,
    Tommy

You can try this >>. right click on the Desktop Manager shortcut on your desktop, select properties, then select the compatability tab, choose run this program in compatibility mode for : Windows XP (service Pack 2). Click OK then try to start it again. Let me know what you come up with.

Re: Desktop Manager 4.2 SP2 and Vista

This was pulled from another site>>>>

    1. Download the latest software from BlackBerry BlackBerry Desktop Software Current as of this writing is 4.2 Service Pack 1. It will ask you for more information about yourself. Most of the fields can have an X placed in them.

    2. Go to start, accessories and the right click on command prompt and click “run as administrator”, next type “cd C:\Windows\System32″ Then type “regsvr32 vbscript.dll”. It should then confirm that vbscript has been registered. Close the CMD Window

    3. Install the desktop software. It may look like it is hanging and not responding for a bit. Just wait for it and it will work. It takes up to 2 min just for the program to start installing at times.

    4. Once this is done lets go to Start, Control panel, User Accounts, Then User Accounts again. Now make sure UAC is on. I know most of us have it turned off, but we need to have it on for desktop manager to load. Otherwise it will look like it loads and immediately disappear.

You should be working now. I have searched this fourm and can not find all this information in one post so I thought I would. I will update it if I find out how to make the desktop manager load without UAC being on.

    It's SP1, I was mistaken.

And I tried, the above but to no avail. I guess I'm destined not to use it

Re: Desktop Manager 4.2 SP2 and Vista

Dude, I posted a similar issues regarding Bluetooth on another forum. My DM just Blinks and closed really quick. I was running in Administrator mode, it installed but nothing changed. I get no Errors so it would be hard to take a snap shot on that.

However, I went to, Control panel, performance information tool, advanced tool, and click on Open Reliability Monitor Tools, you will see if you had either a Success or Failure installation. At one time I installed it with Success but it will not run the program.

I'm confused. It would be nice if some of you didn't come across as Egotiscal saying that "It works for me", and take off. This is a forum where people are trying to figure out the issues, which of course some have given the idea on steps and taken the time to type out the exact info, which the person started this forum explained it just fine.

I'm, again, having thew same problems as magtom.......
