What indication are you getting when trying to backup? Where in the Backup Process does it stall? Do you get a failure message, or does it just not complete? How long are you waiting before saying it stalls out? backups can take a very long time. Can you Sync successfully to your BB?

Does your Desktop Manager recognize your BB as Connected? Try going to Desktop manager Options connection settings and Click on detect.

    Let us know what happens.

I don't know any thing else to try. I have never had a problem syncing, backing up or installing software using 4.1 or 4.2.

Have you tried to reboot your BB? The problem may be on your BB not in desktop manager.
