I am running Blackberry Desk manager 4.1.0.8 and I have a recieved a Blackberry 7100t from my cousin while I was in Germany and I tried to backup the files off the phone but it would only give me " the data was not recognized by the device" but I have another 7100t and it is working flawlessly! Does the version have anything to do with it the one tha is working is running v4.0.2.32(platform 1.8.0137) and the one that is not working is running v3.8.0.128 (platform 1.8.0.83). Thanks in advance for the help!

    Re: Blackberry DM

While backing up data on your BlackBerry device, you receive the following error:
Communication Error: The data was not recognized by the handheld

    Cause

Downloading and subsequently deleting items, such as ringtones or images, causes the items in the Content Store database to have a null value.

    Resolution 1

Remove the Content Store database before backing up the data on your device.
    1. In BlackBerry Desktop Manager, double-click Backup and Restore.
    2. Click Advanced. The Handheld Databases list appears.
    3. In the Handheld Databases list, hold down the Ctrl key and select every application except Content Store.
    4. Click the arrow key to copy the applications over to the Desktop File Databases list. You may be prompted to enter your device’s password.
    5. Go to File > Save to save the back-up file.

    Resolution 2

    Clear the Content Store database.
    1. In Desktop Manager, double-click Backup and Restore.
    2. Click Advanced. The Handheld Databases list appears.
    3. In the Handheld Databases list, scroll to and select Content Store.
    4. Click Clear to clear the Content Store.

    Re: Blackberry DM

Sometimes this error also occurs because the size of application(s) or application data being backed up or restored is greater than 100 KB.

    Re: Blackberry DM

If the above doesn't help. Try using OS 4.1 on both as a LAST resort.
