BB Software 4.1 errors

Okay.. i finally upgraded and everything... and I'm pleased with the new looks, etc...

However... my call logs and SMS keep deleting themselves, even saved stuff... I've lost a lot of important info this way and it's very unsettling...

Has anyone else had this problem?

Re: BB Software 4.1 errors

have you tried a battery pull on it yet?
If you backed it up on the pc you still have the data.

What BB do you have, which OS, which provider?

Re: BB Software 4.1 errors

I had the same thing happen to me!

However, it was about 2 months AFTER I upgraded to 4.1 (from 4.0, on 7100r).

I was due for a new BB, and I bought a 7130g, but when I was backing up my 7100r, I saw this unexpected "purged" message cache of some 600 messages (SMS and phone calls). Didn't know how it was being purged, and never figured out how to restore them on my device.

But the last week I was using the 7100r, all SMS and phone calls were pretty much deleting themselves once a day, at some point mid-evening, though it was sporadic.

So, yeah, it's happened. But I have no idea how to fix it. Sorry,

I had the same problem after I upgraded. The issue turned out to be low memory. I had downloaded a bunch of themes, games, utilitues, etc. once I removed the unused ones things settled down.

Now that it is mentioned, all the extra apps does make sense!

Although the 7100 can run 4.1, I'm not entirely convinced that it ought to run 4.1.

Yea, if you have something you can delete and free up memory see if that fixes it for you. Let us know.

Okay. Most people aren't aware of the following. It does take up space and it can cause important info to be deleted.

Anyone who hasn't done this recently (or at all) do this.

Open your messages folder. Scroll down to view folder and click your trackwheel. All of a sudden you will notice a list of things pop up!

The main ones that you need to worry about are:
Sms inbox
Sms out box
Missed call log
Phone call log.

This information is automatically stored in your device. Trust me I am trying to find a way around this yet have been able to!

This here can be a major problem when it comes to memory.

Also, if you click ALT+lglg (while holding the alt button down) it is going to bring up a list. Pretty much this can be compared to cookies and short term memory on your computer.

Click your trackwheel and delete all that crap out of there. You will probably notice a difference.

A sticky on this will be coming soon.

Hope this helps!

Re: BB Software 4.1 errors

Another thing to do periodically, is to check your free memory using Options/Status. If you see it going down a lot, do the Cold Reboot (Battery out, wait 15-30 sec., Battery back in). This will free up any un-reallocated memory.

Hope this helps.
