    Backup/Restore Pictures in Address Book

    Hello,
I have an 8310 and need to know where or how the pictures linked to an addressbook entry are stored or how to backup/restore them.

The 8310 used together with a BES and wireless sync is enabled.

The pictures are for sure not synced back to Outlook since it does not support that feature.
So how is the relation between the address book entry and the picture stored and, even more important, restored?

    Thanks
    Michael

I tried this now, added a picture to a contact, using camera. I found the picture again in device memory. Deleted it. But contact still show the picture. This could indicate that the cropped picture is saved in the address book.

Re: Backup/Restore Pictures in Address Book

@SCI-Tek: Thanks. But the address book is synced with the Outlook contacts.
When a user gets a new device or does a full reset, the contacts are synced back to the address book. But not the pictures.
The question now is how are these items linked?
How does one get them back?

    edit:
    I just did the following:
    - disabled wireless sync for address book
    - backed up my address book
    - took and added a picture to a contact
    - backed up the modufied address book
    - deleted the picture in the device memory
    - restored the old address book --> picture gone
    - restored the newer address book --> picture back again

So Sci-Tek is right, the cropped pictures are stored in the address book.
But that means, if someone uses a BES and his contacts are synced with Outlook he will loose all pictures linked to contacts with a new device. Or he will to restore the old address book and the turn on wireless sync again. But wouldn't that affect any changes he made meanwhile in Outlook?

I'm guessing outlook don't support pictures, or the pictures never appear on the computer in outlook.

So what outlook don't see or know it can't sync.

Your option is to connect the phone trough USB cable, do a selective backup only including address book. And restore this to the new phone.
