Actually I've now seen this issue with a 7290 and 7100 where when connected via USB it does not connect with the Desktop Manager....even after uninstalling, re-installing DM, and also re-installing the device driver....It creates a new encryption pin...but I cannot configure the Intellesync settings, the connection menu is grayed out...

    any suggestions??

    Hi-Tec, give this a try.

    Open 'My Computer'.
Click on Tools, then click on 'Folder Options'.
*Click on 'Show hidden files and folders'.
    Then click Ok.

From 'My Computer', go to 'C' drive.
    Go to 'Documents and Settings'.
Locate the folder with your account name (when you login to xp or 2k), and click on this folder.
You should see 'Application Data', go to this folder.
Then you should see 'Research In Motion'.
    Delete 'Research In Motion' folder.
    Exit 'My Computer'.

Then open DM, and connect your BB. Check intellisync, and let me know what happens.

    Hello,
I have exactly the same issue with my 8100v. I tried what vyperz has suggested without success! Still all grayed out when connected, on the BB the picture with "connection to desktop established" remains. Any other suggestion?
My local helpdesk suggests to delete my user profile on the PC - the typical last solution from our helpdesk - which I really do not want to apply.

if the connection menu is grayed out maybe your device is not making the connection to your computer properly. make sure you are connecting straight into the computer and not through a usb hub or laptop docking station. the connections with those devices can be a little unstable.
