Re: 4.2 Visual C++ runtime library error

Brilliant, the 'Add ServerCapabilities' agent worked perfectly. RIM should be aware of this problem and have the fix in their knowledge base.

Smile Re: 4.2 Visual C++ runtime library error

Any reason it would only affect certain users on the same server? I have upgrade some of my 400 desktop clients, but only a couple have the error. Patch level for XP is the only thing I see different.

Thumbs up Re: 4.2 Visual C++ runtime library error

There is a new Desktop Version 4.2 SP1 available from the BlackBerry site, it fixed the problem for me. The release notes mention that the AddServerCapabilities problem is resolved by SP1.

With regards to this issue: I also recieved this error message when synchonizing my pearl to Outlook. I resolved it by installing an older version of the BB desktop manager 4.0.SP1 and then installing 4.2 over that installation. Hope this helps

Re: 4.2 Visual C++ runtime library error

Hi - I have this same error running:

    > Blackberry Pearl
    > MS Outlook 2003
    > Desktop Manager V4.2 SP1
    > Using the Internet POP3 service (i.e. not MS Exchange Server).
    > Via Vodafone UK

Re-installs of Desktop Manager have no effect - have also re-installed MS Office to no avail.

Does anyone know of fix to the above setup ?

    Many thanks......

Re: 4.2 Visual C++ runtime library error

    Save thing here,

Connected to a microsoft exchange server but no bes server.

Only the desktop software giving that error message.

I Have tried on a different account with a local outlook profile, does the same thing. So i'm guessing its not something regarding the exchange server.

    Any help ?

Re: 4.2 Visual C++ runtime library error

Is this option only valid with a BES server ?

    I don't see the BlackBerryProfiles.nsf file.

I'm only using desktop manager with no bes server.

The only way I was able to make it work is to got back to 4.0

    the 4.1 and 4.2 weren't working.

    Regards,

Re: 4.2 Visual C++ runtime library error

I think this is working for me (keeping my fingers crossed)

in DM (v4.2.2.14) under "Synchronize" under "Configuration tab", I "reset configuration"... After going through all the initializations, it went all the way through with crashing...

BTW, I have appts that do not have an end date (can't change them as they are invites I recevied)

Clean uninstall the Desktop Manager and go to blackberry.com to download the Desktop Manager 4.3
