Try these settings if youre having problems logging in:
    Under server settings.
    protocol: leave at native
    host: im.webmessenger.com
    host 2: leave alone
    Port: 1717
    Time out: up to you

I made these changes and was able to login.

Thanks for all the help! Finally a program where I can use 'em all at work! Working a 24 or 48 hour shift hurts when you cant chat you know!

if you don't have a BES/BIS, you need to setup the apn settings
    webmessenger.com/support/faqs.htm#login
the site above has a link for instructions on setting this up.
    -------
oh yeah passwords can be changed by going to the "My Account" section of the webmessenger homepage

    EDIT:
I used this today & really like it. It's better than nimbuzz, I can't compare it to jivetalk as I haven't tried that yet.

Does anybody know if using this is considered a text message or just data?

According to FAQ, this is considered data not sms. I also cannot get Skype to work. Which, for me, was the whole point. Oh well.

Tried this for an hour and deleted it. User interface is too confusing, has way too many alerts and it sucked my battery dry rapidly.

I have both Nimbuzz and EQO oth installed on my Pearl; keep switching between them. Nimuzz has Skype but EQO's interfce is definitely nicer.

I was hoping to find someone else to quote. This by far the best solution.

I played with it for the whole day today and decided to delete it. I'm mainly an AIM user and luckily I'm with t-mobile. So I use the AIM made by RIM.

That worked for me. I downloaded several days ago and faced all the problems discussed here. Especially the one about draining the battery very quickly.

I'll try it a bit longer...
