From washingtonpost: "When Acer announced its intention to enter the mobile phone market earlier this year, skeptics questions whether the Taiwanese computer vendor could really crack the highly competitive mobile phone market. Acer, however, has forged ahead, releasing five Windows Mobile-based smartphones at February's Mobile World Congress, with another five WinMo phones in the works, as well as an Android one.

But don't expect to see Acer smartphones in the United States this year. While the Taiwanese computer maker, which entered the mobile market earlier this year, had been targeting this year's holiday period to roll out their phones, Gearlog reports that the usual "carrier-related traumas in the US" means the earliest the phones will hit the market is 2010."
