tiggitMail - alternative email client for BlackBerry, limited Beta

tiggitMail says they are an alternative email client for BlackBerry users that provides access to multiple internet mail accounts. It allows access all of your internet email accounts on your BlackBerry, without the need to forward all of your email to a single email account.

tiggit mail is still in development, and may not work perfectly. They are looking for a limited number of early adopters to help test the software and provide feedback on features, usability. etc

Is this for use on a BES only?

no you can download it without using bes, you just have to register through their website. yoou supply your email address and they will send you an email with all the instructions in it. i just downloaded the program and deleted it within 5 minutes. i don't know if maybe i wasn't using it for the "right" reason or something, but i t sucked to me. it doesn't compare to the blackberry mailbox @ all.

i also don't think that this program utilizes the "push" feature of the blackberry email setup. when i initially installed the program, i had to push "recieve" to get my email after i set up the email account through the program. in my eyes, it officially had no use to me @ that moment.

I'm not sure I understand when the author of the article refers to having to forward messages from all email accounts to a single email account on one's BlackBerry. I have multiple email accounts set up on my BlackBerry without the need to forward anything. Is this just a limitation to BES users or certain OSes?

The application is really for BES users: As a corporate user it is very hard to access internet mail services such as google mail from your BlackBerry device. Tiggit mail is an IMAP/POP3 client that works (at the moment) by polling. It allows a BES user that has only one corporate mailbox to receive email from multiple internet services on their handheld.

The idea is for business folks who might want to use their BlackBerry to check their personal email while they are on the move during the day, or perhaps on the train during the commute time.

Since you said you deleted it within 5 minutes, i'll leave it @ that and won't EVEN bother.

    UPDATE

We now have the 100 early adopter programme users we were looking for. So thanks to Hayden for posting the details on the blog, and thanks to all those that have signed up and are using tiggit mail.

    Hi

I registered for the early adopter program (and haven't had any update, so I assume you have too many people on it now).

I was curious to know - does tiggit mail support folders in IMAP or IMAP idle?

    Many thanks

I think you may have typed your email address incorrectly when you registered, so may be you can register again, and we will get you going on tiggit mail.

With regard to your questions, at this stage tiggit mail does not support IMAP folders, but this is in development at the moment. Idle will be implemented, but not right away.

Ok. have just tried again with my details.

Thanks. Folders would be excellent, as would IDLE. It's one of the things iPhone actually does surprisingly well compared to the generally more email capable berry (I have both iPhone and several berries).

So is this pretty much useless if you are using the BB Internet Service only?

baloooo99 - I guess you need to think about why this was created: There are millions of BlackBerry users that have a corporate BlackBerry that cannot access their personal email from their BlackBerry. tiggitmail is for those people.

As a personal, BlackBerry Internet Service user, you might not find much utility for tiggit mail, unless you want to keep various mailboxes separate, and keep email from different sources under control. This does not mean that tiggit mail is useless.

It is all about what you need your handheld to do, and under what constraints you need to make it work for you.

UPDATE release 0.1.40 is now available to download. This fixes multiple problems with access to Yahoo! mail. It also allows access to GMAIL over IMAP although this still has a few glitches.....
