The Ultimate BlackBerry Storm & 3G Apple iPhone side by side Comparison

Things to note about the 3G Apple iPhone and BlackBerry Storm 9530:
  • The 3G iPhone's internal processor is STILL the same as the original. So much for more speed. Whereas previous BlackBerrys had 312MHz and the new Storm processor is almost twice as fast. Who's truly "twice as fast"?
  • BlackBerry's consumer PUSH email service is included with your BlackBerry internet Service (BIS) plan. In addition the iPhone internet you must pay for "MobileMe" subscription for PUSH email.
  • The BlackBerry Storm the screen depresses slightly and using “haptics” technology vibrates to provides feedback to your fingers for more accurate typing. The iPhone screen is solid glass.
  • Update: As discussed below, I forgot to add that the Storm has a removable/replaceable battery. The iPhone's battery is built in.

I think you should get your facts a little more straight before you publish articles. For the record i have been a long time blackberry user...(and still am) with my 8320 as the current berry. I also have an iPhone 3g.

1. the twice as fast relates to internet speeds....I know theres been alot of criticism about the interent being slow...mine has not and has truly been way more than twice as fast as the original iPhone. This comparison of speed is a play on words.

2. You DO NOT have to pay for anything to get push on iPhone. Its called Yahoo, and they have push services for free!

I love both phones and each has their pros and cons...

In their Ads they do not make it clear that they are referring to internet speeds. They've simply said most times... "the new iPhone from Apple, twice as fast, half the price!".

I'm simply highlighting that the BlackBerry Storm HAS hardware speed improvements over previous BlackBerry smartphones.

... and yes the iPhone has 'internet' has been slow.

A host of free alternatives are available with most technologies. The Storm does not have Google Maps pre-installed either as the shown above. If we list what you can access after purchase or every free 3rd party solution out there... the list would be endless. This keeps things out-of-the-box simple

Storm vs iPhone....

I have used the iPhone for 1 day...my buddy and I traded phones for a day...he used my 8310 and I used his iPhone....

Texting on the iPhone screen is WACK ....My buddy said after the 3rd text reply to me on my BB he was hooked....

Last night I went to a Verizon store to pay my moms cell phone bill and the Manager had a storm he was playing with....I asked him if I could play with it some....the first thing I did was send an email to my BB and I noticed how easy the Lanscape keyboard was to use and the FEEDBACK it gives you is cool....took me less then 1 mins to get use to the keyboard....

in the end...I still say the iPhone got

preach.

btw pros and cons for each device but the underlying difference(imo) between the both is that....

Iphone advantage is its multimedia functionality blows everyone out of the water where as The Storm and BB's in general are still king of telecommunication devices in terms of messaging.

In my case my need for messaging is priority and multimedia for me at least has to be par(the data I use isnt rich i.e. dont need flash and dont need to view sites in html all the time, wap or mobile is just fine with me. I get most of my info from RSS feeds, thank you Viigo) which it looks like the Storm is and little more.

Lastly I have to many contacts on BBM so I am crippled to switch phones if I could. hehe

What about the fact that the iPhone can do voice and data at the same time? I know this is due to Verizons network not the Storm, but I think it still needs mentioned.

Once you go real 3G it's tough to go back.

Yeah...it's cool...but can you install Apps on the memory card from a BB. I really don't think you have all 1gig to install apps. If so it will be cool...but I have a feeling it's not so...

Iphone you can install anything you want...BB I feel like always have to watch what I'm installing...

I have both and enjoy both...but BB OS pisses me off like that...they don't advertise that you can't install apps on memory card...

Thumbs up In my opinion

The Blackberry line of phones will ALWAYS be better than the bunch of Apple stuff and nonsense.

Regardless of how much Spike loves both, i still think that the Storm will be the ultimate phone for a long time to come!

How did you miss the fact of removable Battery?

Able to remove/change the battery by yourself:
Of course man, why you mention this basic thing (storm)?.....

Pay to get it done and besides you have to leave me few days (iPhone)....

The unit has doubled the current memory available on the Curve to 128mb with already built in 1GB (as I understood the specs page) of multimedia memory along with removable memory being useable.
