T-Mobile USA to launch Dash 3G smartphone in July

Reuters: T-Mobile USA Inc said on Wednesday it will begin selling its new 3G-enabled Dash smartphone in July, yet another entry in the hotly contested mobile phone segment.

T-Mobile said the Wi-Fi-enabled Dash 3G was designed by HTC, runs on Microsoft's Windows Mobile and features a full QWERTY keyboard.

The company said pricing was not yet available. T-Mobile is a unit of Deutsche Telekom. Research in Motion's BlackBerry and Apple Inc's iPhone dominate the high-end smartphone market, while Palm Inc's just-released Pre has also seen strong demand.

The Dash 3G has a QVGA (320 by 240 pixel resolution) display, integrated GPS, Exchange server support, microSDHC card slot, Bluetooth 2.0, and a 2-megapixel camera. These features are a boost over the previous version, but fall short of some of the beefier specs of phones like the Palm Pre or the iPhone 3G.

Microsoft is selling this device for 3,8M IDR around $350 USD to employees in Indonesia unlocked, unbranded on Monday. Reviews coming up soon once I get it in my hands.
