Pocket-lint.co.uk: Samsung Electronics has unveiled a solar-powered full touchscreen phone called "Blue Earth".

No eco launch is complete without earthy PR speak, so the Blue Eartch is apparently designed to "symbolise a flat and well rounded shiny pebble".

More importantly, the Blue Earth is the first such phone to the market and charges up via the solar panel on the back of the phone, apparently generating enough electronic power to make a call anytime.

Great idea. Wonder why no one has done this before as I'm sure we all have calculators that are dual power.

If Apple can bring the iPhone where the N-Gage had tried to go, then the market is really going to explode. That's fusing two of the faster markets together.

I have 2 solar powered watches and have owned solar powered calculators for years, why did it take so long for this to come about? Too bad the panel is on the back, the solar panels on my watches are on the front.

Only in the UK huh? I like that it's made from recyclables and solar-powered....wonder what it can do. Very interesting.
