These would excite me more than the touchscreen notions. I like the track roller on the first one and that one looks closer to the Pearl family by looking at the keys. Yet, the second phone drawing I would luv to get my hands on.

Hmm seems I ran off at the mouth too quickly. I really wasn't digging any type of touch screens for the RIM family. Yet, with the innovations they are speaking of allows you to have the qwerty (sure type) keyboard action when opened and touchscreen interface when closed. This sounds very promising indeed.

I didn't get the SideKick Slide so I don't think I would like a sliding BlackBerry either.

I personally hate the slider. The whole reason I liked the Curve after countless HTC devices was because of the always available keyboard. This I also disliked about the sidekick devices. Having to swivel the screen just irritated me. But after all theres a ton of devices because everyone has different prefrences. I couldn't be happier with my curve. I've been using it for about 6 months now and the only thing I'd like to add on gps. Thats far less than what I asked for in the ton of other phones I've been through.

If that was a pun instead of a spelling error, I give you a lot of credit.

Re: Russell Shaw: On "Touchscreen... LCD" BlackBerry Patent

I'll stick with my Curve.... No moving pieces (other than keys) to wear. Get loose and rattle, or develop other issues.

Upon close inspection the sliders my friends use (many times along with their BB's) all have substantial wear patterns and looseness on the slide mechanisms after about six months. However that said, I'm sure that RIM would do a better job with their hardware, yet there is a lot to be said for the good old bar shaped phone.

    Cheers

The part I read about a light touch producing one result and a heavier touch producing yet another result sounds intriguing. No doubt this will be quite an accomplishment from an engineering standpoint, however how it plays out (if they bring this to market) will be very interesting.

~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~i saw those pictures somewhere else online and it was pretty exciting. I think its not a bad idea to make a couple of models to see how they do that way blackberry can see what sells and what data users will like both existing and potential blackberry users. Those would be very windows mobile like if they launched devices like those pictures. I'm a little skeptical about the tilt blackberry. A slider wouldn't be bad and a touch screen would be cool too. Just as long as they still continue to make devices like they've always have they'll be in great shape.

It's nice to see. Been there done that with slide thing, I prefer to stick with my curve. Hope the slide strong enough to heavy duty slide process.
but hey, I think we don't need those for now..

    Nice Post!
I'm with you, I think while it's a great idea to continue to work on developing new models and form factors. Hopefully if they decide to introduce one or more of these, they will continue to keep models like the Curve in the lineup. After all the Curve, and Pearl have been home runs in the consumer space and have done a lot to increase RIM's revenues.

    Cheers
