Re: RIM sues Samsung for trademark infringement of BlackJack

Hah...I was just reading on Reuters about this (a little slow, I know), but I thought this part was hilarious:

RIM is seeking unspecified damages and legal costs, as well as for Samsung to "deliver to RIM for destruction" every item that bears the BlackJack mark that the company holds or has sold.

Hah...That is hilarious...Deliver to RIM for destruction EVERY item..

    HAHAHAHA...

If this case does happen, wonder how they will get the BlackJacks back they have sold already.

Yeah, that's what irritates me as a loyal Cingular customer. No sooner does Cingular get the Pearl, and then they promote the Blackjack...GRRRRR...

I know (it's obvious) that they are promoting the Blackjack because of their "exclusive".

However that said, it would certainly be nice to see them (or RIM) promote the Pearl. With some well placed TV and print ads, the Pearl sales would increase significantly. Currently they are doing quite well, however there's always room for improvement and everyone would benefit from the success.

    Cheers........

    Re: RIM sues Blackjack

    I think they should.
2 people have already asked me about the 'new blackberry' that plays mp3. I responded with 'the pearl?' and they said 'no the blackjack'. So people are mixing the two up. and i'm sure that was NEVER the intention of the manufacuter when they created the BlackJack

I have a friend rather high up in the Samsung organization and he says that it was an honest mistake. They do not by the very culture of the company prey or invade, copy, or attempt to ride off the backs of others successes.

On a rather comical note, after the Blackjack was finished, packaged and ready to ship, one of the guys in the distribution department commented that he just recognized the similarity of the name. By then off course it was too late. Then there is the matter of who chose that name as only the Cingular version is called the Blackjack. In other parts of the world the correct name is: Samsung i600.

    Cheers...

Re: RIM sues Samsung for trademark infringement of BlackJack

The article says that they doubt people will go out and buy a Blackjack meaning to buy a blackberry. Funny thing is that I have a friend who loves my Pearl and she argued with me for a while about how the new Blackberry for Cingular is the BlackJack and she was going to order it. Some people are that way I guess
