To be honest at first I was pretty confident that RIM had the stronghold and would never get shut down, but lately I have been a littel nervous. If the service did actually get shut down I would not be devistated, I would miss my BB, but not devistated about it. The fact that NTP could literally see an angery mob of people in $900 suits at there front door has to have them thinking of a smarter way of settling this.

I forgot to pay my bill today, and my service has been off for 2 hours. I'm on the verge of crying. I had to come here for some consolation.

I'd be going on a rampage if they took it away totally.

    Pink,
Dont be nervous! I dont think the angry mob is what scares them. It's the NSA, CIA, FBI, IRS and others who can quietly( and some not so quietly) make their life hell! You have to believe there is some rogue agent somewhere ready to snap because of this. NTP Beware!

NTP deserves something perhaps but then again, why let a technology sit there? if they knew how, why didnt they make the devices? maybe they didnt know how...

I am too polite to say on here what NTP deserves But that is my opinion. I still have no worries about RIM being shut down. It will all work out. And I think the article about RIM pushing it this far to get the free advertising... well if its not the reason why, it is a useful side effect

NTP doesn't win in the end if Blackberry service is shut down. In other words, you can't have a slice of the pie if there's no pie to begin with.

I am not worried at all. I don't think that there will be a shut down because money makes the world go round and there are too many people and too much money being invested in to RIM

I am sad to see this is still a concern. Haven't the patents in question been tossed? What is wrong in America these days?!?

Re: RIM/NTP: BlackBerry service - TODAY is the BIG day!

Chicago marketing executive Greg Rudin is a self-described "extreme BlackBerry user."

In one 16-month period, he sent or received 135,000 messages, more than five times the amount logged by his company's next-biggest BlackBerry user.

Rudin's BlackBerry serves as his morning alarm clock. He even uses the device's little light to navigate through his house at night, checking on his kids.

And like most BlackBerry users, he says the portable communications device is an essential business tool.

So, Rudin and the more than 3 million strong brigade of U.S. BlackBerry users must be panicked that a federal court hearing scheduled for Friday might lead to a shutdown of the popular e-mail system, right?

Re: RIM/NTP: BlackBerry service - TODAY is the BIG day!

A judge on Friday stopped short of ordering an immediate shutdown of millions of BlackBerry portable e-mail devices made by Research In Motion Ltd..

But U.S. District Judge James Spencer said there was no escaping that RIM had been found to be infringing on NTP Inc.'s patents and he would issue a decision on an injunction "as soon as reasonably possible."
