Research in Motion co-founder Mike Lazaridis donated an additional $50-million last night to the University of Waterloo's Perimeter Institute, bringing the total tally of his gifts to the prestigious physics centre to $150-million.
The co-CEO of BlackBerry maker RIM who often spends time at the Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics visiting with brilliant young minds, acknowledged the donation at a gathering of 600 celebrants in Waterloo last night.
"These are exciting times in science and we have the good fortune to propel new ideas right here in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada," he said. "It is an important mission I feel passionate about and wish to support."
That picture is priceless.
