    Research In Motion Sued again!

Research In Motion Ltd. was sued by a company claiming it failed to live up to a contract to make BlackBerry wireless phones bearing the logo of the Rolling Stones.

RST (2005) Inc., the Los Angeles-based company that employed Mick Jagger, Keith Richards and the other members of the rock group, sued May 11 in federal court in New York, claiming Research In Motion broke a 2005 contract to sell a limited- edition Rolling Stones-branded "BlackBerry wireless telephone.''

*groan* I would like to see documentation on that. I find it hard to believe they would enter into such a contract. I can't imagine there being a HUGE demand for a 'Rolling Stones blackberry'

On the bright side, I'd guess that this would be an easy enough case to deal with; either the documentation of the contract is there, or it's not. The Bloomberg article specifically refers to a license agreement, so there's paper to refer back to.

    This is funny

Well I'm guessing maybe there wasn't a huge demand, but there could have been. Before the pearl, most BB users were business and corp types who tend to be a 'little' older than the the current target market it seems.

Older people like the rollling stones.
Really though what are we even talking about here? Rolling stone ringtones, logos on the exterior or your BB, maybe a theme or two.

I personally have never been a big fan of the rolling stones. (I prefer pink Floyd, led zepplin, tom petty, queen)

And I lost all respect after Keith Richards admitted to snorting his dad
(then retracted statement the next day)

Not to mention, are the Rolling Stones really that hard-up for cash that the licensing revenues from a cell phone would make a big difference? Especially one that probably wouldn't have had wide adoption back in 2005? What an odd, odd story.

They had a Rolling Stone station o Sirius when I 1st got it and I maybe listened to it a few minutes. I can't believe that they are that broke they need to sue someone to get money. Hold on that is the way to get rich in American now. Sue them and get paid.

~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~I read the BLOOMBERG.COM page and it sounds like 1. The Stones don't need or care about the money. 2. The Company suing has already received money. RIM is quoted to say they may counter sue.
