I'm not a world traveler but I get out of the country occasionally. I'm gonna look into this one. Thanks, J.

I know others are supported but this leads to a purchase for the Storm.
UPDATE: You have to go thru their web site for other devices and pay the regular price of $8 for other phones - still very inexpensive!

Bought it. Just an observation - they're pretty slow on the confirmation email with download instructions.

Does this continuously use data? or is it only when you first get the languages. I am going to another country and I do not want to get charged for data usage to translate.

    Thanks

After choosing a language, you enter text in your language what you want to translate and then choose translate, which it does in text. Then, your can select one of two speak choices: either the "tspeak" which speaks the translation or "ispeak" which speaks what was entered in the native text. The spoken translation is not terribly clear but it seems to work.

I've only played with it a little - too soon to tell if it's going to be productive. The spoken translation is a little slow (response) in coming. Still pretty ingenious for $8 for 5 years.

    Awesome Application

My in-laws are Polish and this helps when I have minor mishaps with my context conjugations. I can dig it.

I don't speak enough of any language to give this a full-fledged review but I'll give a little of my observations. I know a little German and Spanish, a little less French. I did some comparisons using those three with Polyglotz and an online translator. Realizing that there are different ways to say the same thing, I'd have to say this little program for BB works well if you need some quick help and/or reminders.

I had one hitch when changing from French to German and trying to translate the same English text. It translated it from English to English instead of the German and wouldn't reset. I backed out and restarted and it worked fine again. It seems to use the more formal cases instead of the familiar (vous instead of tu, etc.) which is the more polite unless you know who you're talking with pretty well.

The translation of one sentence or the limit of about 4 1/2 lines of text is the same - about a second. That's very acceptable...and it appears to be accurate to me. I may have missed a few actual meanings vs. correct expressions.

I'm not terribly impressed with the speech enounciation - it's not that clear. It's slower too to get the speech and, if you have 6 sentences it only translates/speaks a little at a time. In my example (Hello, plus 6 sentences, it paused 4-5 times translating a little bit at a time. Still not bad but took 15 seconds or so to get through all of it. So, I wouldn't try to learn to speak a language from this program but again, as a reminder if you know what you're doing, it'll do the job for you. And it's $1.60 a year for the license unless you have a Storm and get it today then it's 30% less than that. There ARE still some bargains around. Good luck.
