I don't even know how much I'd use this app on a day to day basis, more one of those things to have to show off your BB to friends.

Hope its not long before some resolution on some of these issues.

Will this work on Blackberry's in UK ?

I have downloaded and installed twice now and get the same error message when setting Vlingo up -
despit setting everything to allow , it comes back with Network operater setting error and asks me to re adjust settings ?

This would be a brilliant piece of software if only it would work

If any other uk stackers have managed to get it going , please post how

    Ok,
So I stopped reading the posts after page 15 and I'm not sure if there has been a resolution to error that prevents you from getting past step 4 in the setup process, aside from only using this app with wifi turned on. My APN's are set and I've tried app wipes and battery pulls.

TIA as this looks like an awesome app that I'd really like to be able to use on the go!

    Thanks
    :)

Does anyone know if vlingo learns from corrections you make to its recognition which aren't actually sent? I.e. I dictate a text message, make corrections to mistakes it made, and then close vlingo without actually sending the message - does it still remember what was corrected? I guess I'm a bit confused about how it "learns" and improves its recognition abilities.

~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~ I'm always getting network timeouts, and now it won't work at all since it reckons I have to set the permission for wi fi. I have a straight 8800- no wi fi. I tried emailing support and they deleted my email without reading it. So I emailed the guy who deleted my email again. If anyone finds a way to get it to work let me know- my info is below: (I copied and pasted from the support email)
    vlingo Version: 1.0.0.12038b4.3
    Device: 8800
    Device Id: 250f280c
Phone Number: *deleted for this post*
    Device OS: 4.5.0.37
    Platform: 2.7.0.55
    Connection: Unknown
    Carrier: YES_OPTUS
    Country: AUS

    can't download OTA

hey i have an 8830 with Telus

and I tryed to download the app onto my computer and also I tryed to do it over the air from the websites provided ... http://m.vlingo.com/wap/ and www.vlingo.com/vlingo/download.jsp and also www.vlingo.com/getvlingo and none of them worked. I would get on the sites and hit download and error msg comes up saying "HTTP error 403: forbidden you are not authorized to view this page.please try loading a different page."

does anyone know why this is and how i can get around it?

    thanks

You, know, it seems like no one is willing to help or even awnser us. I have up a long time ago and I am having the same issue with not having wifi but it won't let you continue unless you enable wifi.

We are working on fixing it, but in the meantime we have a workaround that should get you going. The workaround is to download the sideload version of the application, and to install it using the BlackBerry Desktop Manager. The specific steps for doing this are:
    • Determine the Operating System version of your BlackBerry. This can be determined by going to "Options" in your Applications folder, and choosing "About". The first entry will show your phone model and operating system version. For example, BlackBerry 8130 smartphone (CDMA) v4.3.0.60- in this case the operating system version is 4.3.
    • Download the zip file below that corresponds to your BlackBerry OS:
      BlackBerry OS 4.2.x: vlingoForBlackBerry_en_42.zip
      BlackBerry OS 4.3.x: vlingoForBlackBerry_en_43.zip
    • Download the vlingo for BlackBerry application zip file for your operating system version and save it to your desktop.
    • Extract the contents of the zip file, saving the contents to your desktop.
    • Open the BlackBerry Desktop Manager.
    • Use a data cable to connect your BlackBerry to your computer. Wait for the Desktop Manager to indicate that the device has connected successfully.
    • Open the "Application Loader" icon. The Application Loader Wizard will appear.
    • Click Next.
    • From the list of installed applications, click "Add..."
    • From the file chooser, navigate to My Desktop, and select the .alx file that you downloaded from vlingo.
    • Click Open.
      • The new application is added to the list as "vlingo".
      • Note: If you are running Desktop Manager version 4.2, you may see an error indicating there are no applications to install. If this happens, you will need to upgrade to version 4.3.
    • Click Next.
    • Click Finish.
    • When you get "The loading operation was successful", click Close.
    • Disconnect the BlackBerry from your computer.
    • The Desktop Manager should now reboot your BlackBerry. If it doesn't, you should do this manually by removing and re-installing the battery.
    • Close the BlackBerry Desktop Manager.

At this point, your installation is complete. The next (and last) step before you start using vlingo is to go through the setup process on your BlackBerry:
    • From your BlackBerry Home screen, press the Menu button.
    • Find the vlingo icon (a blue circle with a smaller white circle inside it) and click on it to begin the setup process.
    • Follow the on-device instructions to complete the setup process.
    • You're now ready to start using vlingo!
    This worked perfectly for me.

From what I hear its definitely worth the wait. The vlingo developers also posted in this thread that they are currently working on a solution for the problem. It'll happen .
