That weird API message after download.
Hey, if you're getting that weird message that says something about API after you download and try to run, there is a way around it. It's even on the vlingo site if you take the time to look. If you're getting that message, you need to download the ZIP file for your OS and install it all via Desk Top Manager rather than OTA. I did this with my 8100 through Cincinnati Bell and now the program works flawlessly--well, outside of not understanding me all the time.

Gary F - sorry for replying so late ... work and lack o laptop these last days complicated things ... Yes I have all connectionections in "Allow" mode. What I did since was reinstalling the program without deleting, and it worked - it automatically configures the custom BIS acess settings - thanks all the same.

You need to install the same device operating system that is on your phone on your desktop.....

Update from vlingo
I’m writing with an update on the vlingo release. We are very excited by the number of people actively using vlingo and the response we have gotten from those users!
The vast majority of people who have downloaded the software have been able to install and use it successfully. Unfortunately, we do know that a group of you, many of whom are on the T-Mobile network, are still unable to use vlingo due to connection and “request timed out” errors. We want you to know that fixing this issue is our engineering team’s top priority. As we investigate, we are finding that the problem is more complex than originally hoped. It may take some time for us to find and verify the solution, but rest assured that we are actively working on this and pursuing all avenues to get T-Mobile users up and running.
It does appear that T-Mobile users whose BlackBerrys are WiFi-enabled are able to use vlingo over the WiFi connection; the problem seems to be limited to the mobile network. Some users on the Rogers network are also having similar connection problems.
If you are experiencing connection issues with vlingo and you have not yet contacted us, please help us out by submitting a support request here:
We will email you as we have new information and/or new versions of the software for you to try.
Thank you so much to those of you who are using vlingo, and to those of you who have tried and are sending us information to help troubleshoot the connection problems. We are delighted to have you as part of the extended vlingo family, and will keep posting here and on our web site as soon as we have new information to report.

4.5 beta O/S + 8100
Another TMo user here on an 8100. Just to share my experience, I've tried all the steps various folks have outlined to get vlingo to work. I've even updated to the latest 4.5 beta and still no joy. This looks like a nice app, hope they get a fix for us.

wasn't to thrilled about installing this, but I read about it on RIM's website, came here got the OTA link. Installed without a hassle, some random words on the text message but it works fine with T-Mobile. I am glad I downloaded this, make the bb mo funner.

I have went back and for with support, they sent me codes to diag the problem, I sent it back and have never heard from them since. I am runnina a 8100 pearl. Just don't get it I have changed nothing and the recommended settings are in place

i take that back worked great for 1o min ,then screen kept saying speak up would not do what i asked it to do, not luvin it anymore going to remove it

I can only seem to get it to work with WiFi enabled on my device. If I'm out in public and there is no WiFi available I get a "Network Error".
Blackberry model: Curve 8320
OS version: 188.8.131.52
Steps taken to resolve (if any): I have tried adding wap.voicestream.com to my TCP and that still doesn't work, d/l service books, rebooting, battery pull, nothing seems to make a difference.
