    I also have the same problem as below with a BB 8820.

    installed in and it stops on step 4, gives me network error. I checked all the suggestions and everything seems fine..but I still can't complete the wizard. Any suggestions??? thanks

    i apologize. my comments were out of frustration and directed to this particular application, NOT you or pinstack. hardly ever i have installed an application on my BB and had to spend so much time trying in vain to make it work ...

    I just went to the website and I sent the TXT message so they can send the link and it replied back saying "Service is temporary down. Please, try again later."
    Maybe this is why its not working?

    I think I should give up on being an early adopter

    Bad enough that I'm on Rogers with no browser capability as I generally don't need that service at their $$$. I think it would be easier if vlingo offered a desktop download that wasn't just the JAD file. Complete zipped file with JAR, JAD whatever would probably reduce the number of threads here and the angst.

    FYI...

    There is not a Tmobile issue.
    I have 100% functionality at this time.
    T Mobile
    8320 (4.2.2.184)
    BIS
    My Vlingo Options are set to Auto Connection
    My APN is set to wap.voicestream.com

    I am quite sure that the Vlingo folks are studying these issues and working on them. I was in the beta test and they worked diligently each time that I reported problems, however we need a bit of patience here to give them an opportunity to respond and make corrections.

    i understand everyone's frustration ... but we need to remember that this application launch has been blasted everywhere now and im sure they are working diligently to work out the kinks

    vlingo Troubleshooting

    Hi, folks,

    Thank you for your active PinStack discussion about the vlingo release! We have had a tremendous amount of successful usage, but also recognize that some of you are having issues. We are working our way down the list of issues to help get those of you who are having trouble up and running.


    Many questions can be answered by reviewing our User Guide and/or FAQ, located at:

    Additionally, here are some of the more common issues users have reported and what we know today about how to address them:

    “Error attempting to access Secure API”: If you see this issue after installation, your BlackBerry needs to be side-loaded. Instead of downloading directly from your BlackBerry, download the software files directly from your PC and use Desktop Manager to install the software on your BlackBerry. You can access the software files from our web site:<O</O
    Issues with OS 4.5: We have many users successfully running vlingo with OS 4.5 by downloading our OS 4.3 version. However, some 4.5 users are having difficulty. We plan to support 4.5 shortly after it is released, but will not support it during the beta period. Until 4.5 is released, we will not be addressing 4.5-specific issues. Not all issues experienced on a BlackBerry running OS 4.5 are necessarily 4.5-related issues, so please check out our FAQ to see if your issue has a known solution. <O</O
    <O</O
    Permissions Issues with BES: If your BlackBerry uses BES (BlackBerry Enterprise Server) and you are seeing errors that permissions cannot be set, your BlackBerry administrator may be blocking certain permissions that vlingo requires in order to run. The only workaround is for your administrator to change the list of allowed permissions. To help you with that discussion, here are the permissions vlingo requires to run:
    • Connections: Phone, Company Network (if your BlackBerry is enterprise enabled), Carrier Internet, WiFi (if your BlackBerry has WiFi)
    • Interactions: Interprocess Communications, Modify Device Settings, Media (4.3 OS only)
    • User Data: Files, PIM, Email/Messaging<O</O
    Request Timed Out (on 8320 BlackBerrys, mostly T-Mobile): Some users with BlackBerry 8320s are seeing a “Request Timed Out” error on Step 4 of the Setup Wizard. We are still looking into this issue. However, some users have fixed this problem in one of two ways:
    • Verify that your APN (Access Point Name) is set. To set your APN, go to BlackBerry Options > Advanced Options > TCP. Enter the APN for your carrier in the APN field. To determine the APN for your carrier, try a web search. For example, if your carrier is T-Mobile, do a web search for “apn t-mobile.”
    • Turn on WiFi, setting your network to “WiFi Preferred.”<O</O
    <O</ORequest Timed Out (on T-Mobile 8100 BlackBerrys): Some users with T-Mobile BlackBerry 8100s are seeing a “Request Timed Out” error on Step 4 of the Setup Wizard. Unfortunately, we are still investigating this issue and do not yet have a fix to recommend. We will let you know when we do have recommendations for working around this issue.<O</O

    If you have the “Request Timed Out” issue on 8100 BlackBerrys or any other issue not addressed here, please file a support ticket with us. You can do this in one of two ways:
    • If you have email on your BlackBerry, use the Send Feedback form in our application. Even if you are unable to complete the Setup Wizard, you can still select Send Feedback from the menu on any vlingo screen.
    • Otherwise, fill out the support form at:
      http://www.vlingo.com/vlingo/contact_support.jsp
    In your message, please let us know your carrier, operating system version, device model, and any information you can provide about what is going wrong. If you are willing to help us troubleshoot the problem, please let us know in that email.

    I am just curious if anyone on Rogers has been able to get it to work?...Or any canadian network for that matter?

    P.S. Going to light some incence no Cherri. What scent do you recommend?...and don't say blackberry!

    First off, thanks (in advance) to Vlingo for this awesome looking app. I am also a tmo user with an 8100, and am waiting patiently to hear any updates pertaining to tmo phones. I've tried all different settings, soft reset, removing vlingo and re-installing, but still get stuck at step 4 of the setup wizard.
