PhoneBAK BB For BlackBerry. Because you just can't live without it. ![]() I was just reading this thread when I thought about some of the options out there to help us protect our BlackBerry smartphones from theft. PhoneBAK anti-theft software checks on any Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) card inserted into the BlackBerry Wireless Handheld and Smartphones devices. If it is an unauthorized SIM card not approved by the owner, it sends SMS text and email alerts to notify the theft! PhoneBAK helps owner track down the thief through SMS text, email, IMEI, IMSI and even thief's contact number when the phone is stolen. [Read More] |

~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~ It sounds like a great idea! What if someone whipes the BB by entering the wrong pw 10 times? Will it still work as intended? |

| I highly doubt that it would. And I also doubt a thief would be smart enough to try that on purpose. He would probably do it by accident though lol.

~via BB (wap.pinstack.com) Does it work for CDMA BB's? They aren't equipped with SIM cards. |

I am using it together with my colleagues since blackberries are deployed for all employees in the company. It came as an option to be bundled with the service.

~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~ I don't think it works with cdma bb's since you need an unauthorized sim card triggers the software. If the bb is whiped from repeated password attemps, does it still work? |

If you ever obtain a BB by shady methods always reload the OS onto the BB and make sure all 3rd party apps are deleted. With a few moments of thought, since your BB PIN is tied to the phone, the program can "phone home" to the author's web service or dedicated SMS phone number with the phone info, after a wipe is detected (first run and no preferences). This info can then be passed to the owner by their preferences as desired. This way no customization of the binary needs to be done, but requires hosted services by the author. |

They only way this would not work is if the BB boots with radio OFF. But the radio sometimes connects even before the BB fully loads. This is how I was told it works, in the background. I would have to test to confirm. |
