Hey guys, I downloaded the browser to my 8800, working good, like the options..but one question. Is the browser that comes with the blackberry faster since it uses EDGE or will the APN be the same speed?

I downloaded it but during the install I get an error message. It says it cannot connect to the internet and check with my service provider. All of my other internet related programs work fine. I have the pearl. Any ideas?

DanShauna1 I found this that might be helpful just check out the link but you might also want to make sure that you match it with your provider...cingular and t-mobile settings are different.

    here is T-mobile's

I can't connect with my Blackberry device on T-Mobile USA

There is a specific setting required to enable an Intenet application on a T-Mobile BlackBerry to go out to the Web and not get routed into the BlackBerry network.

Go to "Options", then "Advanced Options", then "TCP".
    Under APN, enter "wap.voicestream.com".
    Leave "Username" and "Password" blank.

Here is the site, you can also browse the site for your specific phone type to see individual settings..

Thumbs up Opera Mini Beta 2 launched - Optimized for Blackberry!

I just received this email a few minutes ago and have already loaded it up. This version is a great improvement over even the first beta version, I won't even touch version 3..

It seems they have really listen to us and optimized it for the Blackberry devices. It responds much better, loads faster and even uses blackberry specific buttons. They have responded to almost everything we all hated when we reviewed the last version. Here is the link provided in the email below: http://www.operamini.com/beta/

    Hi,
It's the Opera Mini team again. We've made more improvements to the world's most popular mobile Web browser. Today, we're excited to share the results of our hard work. What have we added? Well...
    - Landscape mode: If you like that swanky effect of switching the page view mode by rotating your iPhone, you'll love trying ours. (NOTE: Does not work in the same way )
    - Multi-search Start Page: Searching on the go just got faster. We've added a new page with several search engines for your mobile searching pleasure.
    - Custom search engines: Just like on the PC version of Opera, you can now customize your search engines so Opera Mini reflects all your tastes and preferences.
    - Exclusive BlackBerry support: We heard you. The new Opera Mini beta includes many enhancements for our BlackBerry users including better menus and a new user interface.
Click here to try it for yourself.
Also, don't forget to give us feedback. While you play, we're already back at work making Opera Mini even better.
    Happy surfing,
    The Opera Mini team

PS - The new PC version of Opera, codenamed Kestrel, is also coming out in an alpha preview next week. Click here to try it out.

    Whow.

Just downloaded the new Opera beta 2, and it's very quick! Pages load much faster then bb browser, and scrolling around is much quicker.

Also uses keyboard to naviagate... still playing around with it, but so far, it's sweet.

Guess I'll use bb browser primarily for downloads, and Opera most of the rest of the time.

I always do the OTA install for Opera, it always seems to do the best job of upgrading.

I did an OTA install on top of my previous Opera beta version. Worked fine, no issues...

Yeah I can't get a landscape mode either, not that I think I'd use it but still, bummer. Pages load very quickly, the trackball response is excellent, and adjustable font sizes are making this version a huge upgrade! I was going to upload some screenshots with my review but BBscreenshooter downloads with a virus/spyware attached to it. I think there is another app but I probably won't get to it til later tonight.

Yeah .. pity about the landscape mode.

According to the people at Opera Software Forum
"A feature many of you have been asking for is here! Test it by pressing *# (should work on most devices, but not BlackBerry and Palm OS)
    "

I logged a complaint/report at https://bugs.opera.com/wizardmini/ .. will post if I hear back on a solution or reasoning for leaving 8100 users hanging on this feature ..WTF!
