I downloaded the Device manager by mistake.. You only need the Desktop manager. Device is part of the Desktop manager software package apparently.

There is only one Desktop Manager
VETT98, but there is a device manager too which has been confusing a lot of people here - RIM not exactly straight forward about what to download. ;-). Morgase, download the desktop manager only, with or without the media support, and it includes the device manager in the package

Just downloaded, installed and used Desk Top Manager 4.5, without Media Manager. Worked perfectly; did a sync and backup. I still kind of liked the simplicity (and look) of the older version I was using, but 4.5 won't take much to get used to.

Ok load the larger file and yes it takes a while (about 1 hour or 2 buds) and presto, the user interface is a lot cleaner, it makes it look user friendly. actually the whole interface is kinda schemed user friendly. ok tried all the menu items and have not had a problem ( i am running 4.2 on my blackberry, so far works great-been on it for about 2 hours deleting and inserting applications, back up and media manager. Looks like a solid hit. You just have to be able to download the larger file and install it (works both on vista and xp). good luck all.

I'm on XP SP3 and with a decent computer. The new DM's Media Manager is still sllllooooooww. Other then that, it's okay but the performance needs to be fixed.

Final word, I like this and as oerviously thought no need for a internet connection unless you are trying update like this a lot! Just wish the handdeld OS was a hit like this! Good luck to all stackers, waiting for TMO to release the OS for handheld.

I downloaded and seems to be working fine. Not sure what it does differently if anything? Looks nice but without function tough to care much. Anybody found any changes other than loo?
