God now. Having a touch screen is just a reply to that iphone thing. Buttons are much easier to use and just better for using with your hands. Had a palm before and needed the stylus to enter anything.

Despite the fact that real buttons make more sense, there's a higher market demand now for touchscreens. If touchscreens became the new standard in BlackBerrys, we might have a reason to complain, but it's hard to begrudge RIM for targeting that iPhone-susceptible segment.

Ehhh I like my trackball, I think a touchscreen would be more of a hassle than convenience.

Speaking of new phones, will Nextel ever offer a new Blackberry? Not impressed with 7100i

As long as touch screen isn't the ONLY BB offered, I have no issue with RIM attempting to target a broader range of customers. But I have no desire for a touchscreen.

From what I heard from my rep, "Nextel" will have no new BB.

Re: Next Generation Blackberry to feature touch-screen technology?

I would love it ONLY if-
    1. There was a "slide out" keyboard.
    2. we could still change the layout of the screen---doubt it would be possible though.
Color---it's nothing but a hue of the rainbow...why do people place such importance in it?

No touch-screen for me. As Toddboy said, if it is to target more consumers then great, otherwise, they need to continue to market products with trackballs. I don't care for the touch-screens because they get dirty, scratched, and look all "filmy" with all the fingerprints on the screen.

RIM is what they are because of the products they create, not because of who they follow and products they have mimicked.

BlackBerry, doesn't need touchscreens, the already have 70% of the market share without it! If it comes, cool! But IMO trackball helps
bb's to be tougher, than touchscreen phones!

Having a touchscreen and a trackball would give the best of both worlds. Before switching to a BB from a Treo I used my Treo without trying to touch the screen in preperation. Having both gives you the option to work either way. There are times where it would be nice to have a touch control

Re: Next Generation Blackberry to feature touch-screen technology?

I think it will depend on how they design the touchscreen. I have used some European and Japanese touch screen devices that are outstanding. Good control, decent durability, easy to use, and looks brilliant. Have not seen a touch screen in the states that compares. If done correctly could be very nice.
