Must order one... GF is getting a curve and I doubt she'll wear it but just keep it in her purse... This will keep it from breaking!

Re: New OtterBox for BlackBerry Pearl & BlackBerry Curve

    Hi--

I work for OtterBox and handle all the public relations. Just wanted to provide a bit more explanation on how the trackball works. There's actually a cut out for it in the clear keypad/screen membrane so it's completely interactive. Hope that helps!

    Thanks,

Keys are covered and the screen is covered, but there is a hole for the trackball so that is accessible and interactive.

Yes, layer one is optional depending on the type of protection desired.

    Thanks!

Re: New OtterBox for BlackBerry Pearl & BlackBerry Curve

    To Kristin,

I ordered one on October 10th and the website indicated it would be shipped by Oct. 31st. Now the website says Nov 30th. When will the Curve case really be shipped out? Thanks.

ok who is really going to need this much protection

i have never seen one these on any blackberry i have seen. Contruction- yes. 5yr old owner-- yes. normal everyday life -- NO. this is why they make a holster.

for those people who are careful and dont plan on throwing their BB down a flight of stairs just get the silicone skin and some clear (high gloss) tape and be done with it.

if you want to see them get destroyed go check out the YouTube video with otterboxes...

    You have a point...up to a point.

There are many people who have jobs or lifestyles that could be considered 'active'. Those in the life/safety fields, construction (as you mentioned), mechanical/service industries just to name a few. Some work in dusty, dirty environments, and some just want to protect their investments.

I don't think the Otterbox is an overkill, it's just a preference and an option available to anyone who wants it.
